Default Just got a C6, time for Boost.

Ok, so I just got rid of my Trailblazer SS and Evo 9 for a 2005 Z51 C6 M6. I am now starting to look into performance modifications and I need some great advice from some Corvette experts, this is my first Vette and I kept my LS2 TBSS stock so I am still new to modding SBCs. You fine advice is appreciated gentlemen.

First off I am going to blower route to keep it simple. Also I want to keep the stock rear end and tranny. Also stock block and internals. I plan on a full header-back exhaust system first. Next I have seen many s/c options. Which blower kit is going to give you the most performance for value (also which one is the best performing)? Also with the kit what is the highest boost level you can safely run with stock internals?

My next question what is the best 1/4 mile time C6s are running with a set-up similar to what I am looking at with a really good dyno tune?

Sorry for the newbie questions, but I really want to keep all my questions in one thread so I can start this build right away.

Check the before and after results that we saw with just the installation of an ATI ProCharger P-1SC-1 system on a bone stock C6.

Is the P1sc or the D1sc the more powerful model? Also with a full header back exhaust, the fuel system upgrades, and that kit what would be an outlook on the 1/4 times it could run (I know it depends on a lot of factors).

I like the procharger setup, it looks clean.

highest boost levels shouldnt be important since you plan to keep the rest of the car stock. If you want a solid kit look at A and A's or the ECS set up. Either one of those will be enough for you.

Well there can never be enough power on hand, I don't know what you meant by the "will be enough for you comment," but I my Evo 9 ran 10.50 and had 750 awhp (on E85+Meth). I don't want to replace stock internals because to me it would make more sense to just get a CID block instead so you could boost a lot higher, and I don't have the money for a swap right now.

But with a blower and headerback could 10s be possible... is there a head/cam set up that works well with a procharger set-up?

I would talk to ECS or AandA. I'm sure they have something for you...

My system with the stock cam will make 550 RWHP with no issues.
While the LS2 cam isn't the best for boosted applications, it's certainly not necessary to swap it out.
I do have some nice blower cams, if you do decide to go that way.
My system includes your injectors, fuel system upgrade, and pretty much everything you need for the install.
It's also a very clean looking setup.

I would love to do this on my inbound 2008.

I'm sure this voids the factory warranty.

Bummer.

Welcome the the Forum!

If you are looking for a complete setup, ready to bolt-on, that can make over 500rwhp on the stock bottom end; then I would recommend the Magnacharger system for you. It is a very clean install and makes HP and torque in all areas of the RPM band. It is very reliable and in my opinion gives you the best performance for your valued dollar. There are many members still using their stock bottom end, rear end, and transmissions with a Maggie setup and they will attest to the Maggie's performance. Although I believe any stock clutch wrestling with more than 450rwhp is on borrowed time... Any supercharger system will respond well to a set of Long Tube headers and a catback exhaust system. You will most likely lose around 1lb. of boost with the addition of LT's and a catback, but since you mentioned having a custom dyno tune, you could always add a smaller pulley to regain the lost boost and add a custom tune on the dyno to tune for more HP. I would recommend nothing more than 10lbs of boost on the stock bottom end/stock compression ratio - 8lbs of boost is just about right on the stock bottom end. With the Z51 suspension and a 6-spd manual you should have no problems running low 11's with a Maggie setup and LT's on the stock bottom end. If you throw in a set of slicks, an upgraded clutch, a smaller pulley, and a custom tune, 10's are in reach. Just to clarify you will need to change out your hood for the addition of a Magnacharger as it will not fit underneath the stock hood but there are many hoods available and the addition of a custom hood will set your 'Vette apart from the rest, if they can even see your hood from the back as you "blow" past them... Hope this helps you out!

BTW: I noticed you mentioned that you just sold your TBSS, I have a TBSS that I am getting ready to install a Magnacharger on, so if you have any more questions feel free to ask or PM me. I would be glad to help.

You should fill out your profile so people will know where you are.

More important than which SC to go with, is WHO is doing the install. Even a good (fully engineered) SC kit will be a complete headache if it is improperly installed and/or tuned.

Don't be hung up on "the ultimate setup", as it doesn't exist. Anything over 600rwhp is just bragging rights. If you're going to be drag racing with hard launches, you'll need an aftermarket clutch. With a blower, drag radials, and a GOOD DRIVER, you'll be in the 10s.

IMHO, if you are in California, take your car to A&A Corvette in Oxnard. http://www.aacorvette.com/

If you are on the East Coast, take your car to ECS in New Jersey. http://www.eastcoastsupercharging.com/

These are two of the most highly regarded shops in the world for Corvettes. Both shops have done countless installs, and have excellent customer service before, during and after the sale. With these shops you don't just get a blower, you get a fully engineered kit. With either shop, you'll get a fully-functioning well-sorted install.

Best of luck.

I live in Illinois. I planned on a aftmrkt clutch. I am new to SBCs but if I can swap my block and internals out of my Evo I know I can install a blower kit, I will leave the tuning to the pros though. My Hp # is not important to me one bit... being able to run the fastest times on street radials is my only concern.
