I am planning to add a separate IAT sensor to my 07 C6 LS-2. This is to allow the sensor to feel the cooler charge after the meth/water injection. As many of you know, the MAP and IAT are combined in the same sensor housing on a C6. I am thinking of mounting it in the plastic intake manifold somewhere or maybe in the metal tube that I used to mount the meth nozzles.
If any of you have mounted a discrete IAT in the manifold and would share your mounting locations, pictures would be even better, I would appreciate it. Also, the year or part number of the IAT that you used. I believe that any vette in the 1997 to 2000 range used a separate IAT that will work.
If you are adding water/meth injection, I would take care of everything in the tune if I were you. Adjust the IAT tables to reflect the new set-up, instead of relocating the IAT sensor to trick the ECM while using the IAT table in the old tune. Too much hassle with splicing the wires and such just to trick the ECM. Just my opinion...
Thanks for the responses so far. I may call ECS for advice on mounting the IAT. I already have the meth nozzles after the MAF since I realiaze that you cannot inject the meth before the MAF sensor. The IAT is a seperate element incorporated in the MAF housing. If I don't mount a new IAT after the meth, the computer will see the same temp that is does now and pull timing. If cooler air is really entering the manifold, an IAT mounted there will see the real, cooler air, and not pull as much timing on a warm day.
