As some of you may know, Im building a 2008 C6 Automatic 6 speed which I haven't even recieved yet. It's going straight to the shop from the dealer... Its going to be twin turbo, and I have 2 questions...
1) Does the Automatic transmission downshift for you when you are in paddle mode (ex: Im cruising in 3rd gear and floor it... will it stay in 3rd or downshift)????
If so, Im going to need a boost controller that knows what gear I am in like this one:
I think you're just asking questions people don't know. I've never heard of anyone hooking the e-boost up to the vehicle's computer so that it knows what gear they're in for an automatic. I don't know how that works personally.
e-Boost is a popular boost controller here on the forum though. That one, and the less sophisticated AEM boost controller are the ones I see most people installing. I am not familiar at all with the other boost controller you have in your links.
I just run a manual boost controller that cost about $40. I don't find that I change my boost often enough to want to control it from the passenger compartment, so a **** in the engine compartment is fine for me. Also, I don't need different boost settings depending on my gear selection. Of course I've never had it, so maybe if I had it, I wouldn't know how to live without it.
You would probably be running a lot more horsepower than me though, I just run a little over 500 to the wheels, so I haven't yet tried to really push my APS kit to its full potential. The only thing is that you may be limited by the automatic transmission, since I don't know they're maximum horsepower capacity.
im hearing its around 600, but i dont have a wide body and i think if i tone down the boost just right i can go WOT in 1st and 2nd all day and not spin... might even be able to keep traction control on... what a concept lol

I have an 06 A6 with an Maggie. To answer your question, in the "S" mode, once you engage the manual shifting process it stays.(Ex....Cruising in 3rd and floor it, it will stay in 3rd until it starts bouncing of the Rev limit. You have to be real quick in shifting the paddles if you go 1st, 2nd, 3rd and so on, but the good news that I hear the A6 08's are faster performing than the 06????? Hope this helps.
The A6 is the limiting factor here. If you remove TM (with the tune) you will blow out the rear planetary torrington bearings (assumed 550+RWHP). Mine lasted about 45 minutes, but boy did it shift great. If you leave TM as is, you can run more power through but it is negated by the crappy shifts and excessive timing being pulled. High gear pulls like a **** though. I run on stock tires, drive it out of the hole, goes sideways into 2nd, then hooks and pulls hard. 11.4 at 127 consistently
You can put in a XLR converter (higher stall than ours) for like $300.00 it helps a little.
If you stay around 5-7lbs (with a PROPER TUNE) you should easily run mid to low 11's on street tires with a sleeper car.
Good luck, keep us posted on your progress.
