Default MSD Boost-a-pump (BAP)

I ordered a MSD BAP (2350) for my C6 and had a buddy of mine tell me that he's had 3 of them burn up the fuel pumps on a C6. Now I'm worried. He recommended the Kenne Bell unit and I asked he what the difference was and he stated that the KB was adjustable. I know that it has a remote ****, but the MSD is also adjustable, but at the unit itself.

Anyhow, is the MSD unit reliable, particularly on a C6?

Personally, with my others cars, I always had trouble with MSD products - distributor, ignition boxes- and always read of numerous people sending back units all the time to MSD to be repaired. Pretty much all the 03-04 mustang cobra guys run the KB if they are running a BAP and have not heard much, if any of them failing. I now personally shy away from MSD products.

With all the ECS users, which is supplied with a MSD BAP, I would think they would have pitched in by now.

I have only had the msd bap for 2 months but I did eliminate the cheap fuse holder that I heard would burn up. Also using the racetronix harness. The bap is set about half way 17v.

We haven't had any problems with the MSD pn# 2350 units. Bob

At what boost pressure? APS recommends 15V @ 5 psi. Don't know what MSD recommends. Are you using the stock pump?

Stock pump. I set up the bap with compressed air, a regulator, and a 13.8v power supply. I think it reached the 17v by 8psi.

I couldn't get the Racetronix wiring harness in time, but I was also informed that it's not needed. It was only one wire that needed to be spliced.

Cheap fuse holder? How did you eliminate it?

The racetronix has a high quality fuse holder so there is no need for 2 fuses in one line. I also like the heavier guage wire feeding the BAP.

So if I don't use the Racetronix wiring harness, do I run the risk of the "cheap" fuse holder burning up? Again, I couldn't get the harness in time, so I'm going to install the BAP without it.

ECS, do you guys install the Racetronix harness when you install the MSD BAP that's supplied in your kit or install it straight up? Any known problems? What setting do you usually use?

How do you determine what setting to run?

ECS, care to pitch in since you used this unit in your kits?

My MSD BAP just recently quit on my C6 ECS FI Kit after 1 1/2 years. I noticed right away that pressure was not normal. It was dropping to 55psi under load and not the ussual steady 61 psi. Glad I have a fuel pressure gage. The Paxton blows 10-11 psi. I called Chris at ECS and of course he said this was the very first unit that he has heard of dying. He also said that they turn the adjuster all the way in for max volt boost. Dunno about fuel pumps blowing and I hope I never do.
