Default Tracking the Maggie?

Howdy....

I've been seriously on the fence about getting a Maggie 112 installed on my 2007 LS2 manual. Because I find myself doing about 4/5 HPDE and/or track events a year I am concerned about the heat issue.

I've heard that I may have "heat-soak" issues but I really don't know what that means in the real world. (???)
I presume it means that after a certain temperature reached the motor (or twin screw) will not produce max power?
Is this heat soak damaging?

About how long does heat soak that take? Most of my tracking is 20-25 sessions mostly in 3rd gear with 2nd's in turns. The car doesn't see sustained high rpms but is requested to produce torque coming out of turns.

Does anyone here track their Maggie Cars?

Thanks

I would go NA for track events....

The low end torque from the maggie would just spin the tires....especially if you are not running R compound tires in 2nd gear.

I don't have any experience with a maggie on HPDE's or track events, so I can't give you any advice on that. I know I have seen some Maggie cars on track events on You Tube, so I know people have done it.

As far as heat soak, I was getting it from hot lapping my magnacharged car at the drag strip. Basically, I would run very consistant, but each time down the 1/4 I would be just a little slower... hundreths of a second difference from the previous run.

I definately enjoy the magnacharger as do all the guys that have one here, but I don't know that any of them have tracked their cars?

I would agree, for track racing N/A is the best way to go.

Everyone I know with a FI car (whether it's a maggie/centri or twin turbo) has problems on a road course. NA seems the best for road racing........but you can't beat a Magnuson for fun on the street.....

The Callaway Demo vehicle has been tracked various times. See some video clips at http://www.callawayownersgroup.com/P...ackvideo1.html.

My new C16 (TVS based) with less than 1K miles was also tracked for an upcoming episode of Motorweek...actually both cars are tracked on the program. It plays this coming weekend on PBS and next week on Speed.

Maggies are the best way to go!

Why are you even considering the 112 or even the 122? The new TVS 2300 or 1900 is now the state of the art supercharger from Magnuson. More power...Less heat soak...Less noise. This is the same unit thats on the ZR1 and the Callaway! If you can wait a few months the price will probably come down. A few shops are allready installing...But they are getting a premium price! Just my 2 cents.

I will be posting an official announcement with more details on a new thread later today, but I will go ahead and let the cat out of the bag here. We are now offering the TVS 1900 as a bolt-on mailorder kit for the LS2 and LS3 powered C6's. This kit includes the TVS 1900 and accessories, 8 rib drive complete with all 5 pulleys and a belt, fuel system, and tuning. We are offering the first 8 systems at an introductory sale price of $7995. Once those systems are sold the C6 TVS system will be $8995. We are also offering our TVS radiator/cooling system which incorporates an integral engine oil and transmission oil cooler into a severe duty radiator as a mailorder kit for $1000.

For those looking for extreme performance for their C6 or C5 our TVS complete conversion system which includes all of the above plus our proprietary heads and cam along with a hood is still available for in-house installation.

$7,995 for the complete kit with injectors, fuel pump? I assume that does not include the hood?

That is a great price compared to the retail of a magnacharger....

We have had great success on the track with our TVS powered Z06. We have yet to have any issues with overheating or heat soak with this system. I do reccommend that you upgrade your cooling system to our TVS cooling system which utilizes a severe duty radiator along with integral oil cooler and trans cooler.

a little late jumping in on this thread but... i track my NON-INTERCOOLED Maggie C5.. never had any issues with it. I do run meth to keep the intake temps down though. Also run an upgraded ron davis radiator. The torque is awesome... just out of shear curiosity (and a sticking clutch pedal), i've run VIR north course in 4th gear for an entire lap on street tires. No lugging at all...

I'll be at VIR with it the first weekend in April running it yet again....
