Default Autometer A-pillar Installation

I got my Autometer triple A-pillar mount and gauges. Looks to me the easiest way to mount it is to drill holes in the OEM A-pillar cover for the cables and mount screws. Is this what you guys/gals are doing?

TIA

When I had the Autometer gauge pillar I just two side taped it because I didn't want to screw into my pillar. It held fine.

I needed both the screw and thin velcro to get a tight fit against the pillar

So far I have done nothing to secure my gauge pod. It seems to hold itself in place just fine.

I did a trial fit, for the most part it fit good, pretty much stayed in place. Big gap at the windshield, maybe tape will hold, if not I will put a couple of screws to it. Thanks for your input.

Mine stays in place too without any extras. Make sure you have the door open and it seems to slide in nicely.

Were you guys able to get it to fit tight near the windshield? I read on the forum some guy used a hair dryer to bend it for a better fit.

Bump. I'm curious how anyone dealt with the windshield issue.

Mine fits perfectly against the windshield. Try sliding it into place towards the front of the car, tight against the windsheild, rather than pushing it down and then moving it left into place? It may help to remove the roof so that you can get the right angle to slide it in.

Mine is out about 3/4" at the windshield. I can push it in but it will pop back out. The rest of it fits ok, I think I will have to screw it to make it fit tight.

I used a hairdryer & it closed the gap a little better. Then I had my new inspection & registration stickers moved down real low to cover the rest of the gap. The company has some nerve producing a product like that for the vette!! They also don't give you the knockout to cover that ugly 3" hole for the speaker, which I don't have.

I do not have a picture, but with the pod out of the car I gently bent the windshield end of the pod inwards past its normal point. I then used masking tape to hold it in this position. I put a hair dryer on high heat setting and really heated up that area of the pod. I let it cool down and repeated the step a couple of more times.

The tip of the pod near the windshield now fits PERFECT! It actually presses in some for a better fit. I did mount it with the push pins. I used just three to keep it in place. Never had any problem with it. 3000 miles of VERY aggressive driving and no issues.

I agree with you on the speaker hole. As far as fit and overall looks though, it is not too bad.

Sounds good, I will try the hair dryer treatment next weekend, thanks.
