Oil question
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
If its not and fed off the motor then whatever regular oil you use for the engine like Mobil 1 5w -20 or whatever your car calls for.
Same intervals as the engine or every 3k or so.
The next issue is anti-wear additives. Automotive 30 grade API SM/ILSAC GF-4 motor oils put a limit on an oils primary anti-wear additive ZDDP by limiting phosphorus to 800 ppm. Almost all off the shelf oils, including the AMSOIL SAE 5w30 are impacted by this limit. Many oils get around this limit.
As an example, and an oil I'd consider for a blown motor, and one I used in my stock 02 Z06 on the track for a few years before AMSOIL came out with true racing oils is this one:
AMSOIL SAE Synthetic Premium Protection 10w40 (product code AMOQT)
This oil is a Group IV, PAO basestock, synthetic with phosphorus on the order of 1265 ppm and zinc on the order of 1375 ppm. The new racing oil I use has zinc of about 1575 ppm, but doesn't have the detergents and dispersants normally found in street oils like the one linked above.
For oil change interval, I'd follow the OLM which I've found to be pretty reliable. Additionally, for a blown motor ($$), I'd consider used oil analysis which may give you an early warning of trouble. As an example, here are several from my daily driver:
