Just got my A@A installed and first want to say the shop was great to work with and so far the car runs great (will watch the temps--see other thread about highest coolant temps). But I was wondering how picky to be? I am a very OCD (obsessive) kind of guy and was wondering if anyone else would be irked at certain things. For example a missing plastic peg/plug from the wheel well; missing washer and nut from the nose facscia mount; disconnected external temp sensor; and brake air vent not put back properly due to blowoff valve and intercooler hose placement. I love my baby and drive her hard, but things pester me. The shop will absolutely make things right, but is a PITA to get it back there. DO you guys go over things with a fine tooth comb? Does anybody know how to reconnect the temp sensor(where is the actual sensor)? Just to be clear, I have no problems with the shop or the A@A, just wondering if these things are expected.

Yea, I know what you mean. On mine they forgot two screws in the console and when they put the original tires on the new rims they got the sensors on the wrong wheels up front. L is reading R and visa versa. They will fix it but then I have to make the trip and wait. Arghhh!
Yep I'm just as picky...but it's a very short ride from my kitchen to the garage to make things right! Attention to detail usually tells you something about the guy who was doing the work.

Yes, I am picky as well, so you are not alone, and what you are expecting is reasonalbe.
If I could do it all in my garage I would be a happy man. Maybe when i retire I can go to wyotech or something and then really have some fun.
I have already talked to the shop about temps and performance, but not the small stuff, but like I said, I'm sure they'll make it right, but its a 4.5 hour drive one way (but I get to drive my baby so not a total loss).
Those sound like little pieces that accidently got overlooked. See if your shop may trouble shoot over the phone how to fix the issues, they are relativily easy fixes.
We have our customers go for a ride post modifications, and then inspect the cars with us before we *deliver* the car.
i admit that I should have inspected closer at the time, but like a kid at christmas i was looking at the paint, gauge install and sc unit not fender wells, brake tubes and the like. part my fault also. Don't suppose anyone can tell me where the external temp sensor is. when I talked to the installers they admitted that they saw the pigtail but didnt know where it went. I know that sounds horrible, but I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and applaud their honesty.
Over the winter I had an SC installed in my Mustang and when the shop installed the boost gauge they drilled a 1" hole in the firewall and then didn't even put a grommet in the hole! It was an easy fix but it still really pissed me off. I would have gone back except the shop was 600+ miles away.
I'm now considering putting an SC on my vette later this year but the shop I plan to use has done work for me before and has always done an outstanding job so I'm not too worried. They are also only and hour away so having to go back would be no big deal.
You have every right to expect that the car is put back together just like it was when you left it.

Good luck!

This is called Customer Service and the way it should be handled. I have to say I dont think its being picky asking for your car back the way it was given and then some. When mine came back the first time I had similar punchlist issues and even a missing motor mount nut and the other was half off I then fixed a whole bunch of stuff because I wanted it done my way and then gave them the opportunity to fix the rest, finished the tune and make it right and now the car after it was done is about 95 percent the 5 percent of the rest I can take care of myself. I find myself reverting back to my old ways and doing everything myself from now on so its done the way I would want it to be. Its the only way. Then if somethings wrong you can only blame yourself.
Bottom line from all of this. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NUMBER ONE! If there is a problem and you jump on it and address it quickly and professionally and dont run away from it or become defensive more times than not it is easily solved and emotions never escalate. Through my years owning my own business I have learned alot from customers and learned from mistakes. Communication is key.

And for the record I had no missing parts that weren't supposed to be missing.
temp sensor is in grill opening on passenger side of the car. prob is you will have to take front corner apart to get to the wire. that is a easily over missed sensor because of it's location. take 7mm and 10 mm under car with you and it prety straight forward
The temp sensor has to be relocated from it's original location with the A&A kit. In its factory spot you'd see it protruding into the grill area on the passenger side near the bottom of the radiator. This diagram below shows the original location for reference. It is part #1
Page 29 of the A&A instructions http://www.aacorvette.com/pdf/aa_c6_instructions.pdf has a photo at the bottom of the page that shows the sensor hanging by it's connection but unattached to the car. This will help you at least know what you are looking for. If you look closely on the right side of the photo you'll see it behind another connector with nothing attached. It's plastic, black and the probe is about 1/2 the size of a pencil.
I'd call the installer and asked him where he mounted it. Hopefully it isn't located on your installer's work bench! As you have probably already found out that sensor is required if you want your heating and cooling to function properly.
yup, thats the puppy (plug), but I'll be darned if I can find the probe. Good picture though--thanks. It may be relocated on the shop floor, expecially since they didn't know what the plug was for. Any idea what the other loose plug may be from after the install? same basic size as the temp plug, but has two rubber tips where you would normally find wire connectors inside the connection. also seemed to clip to something.
boy you know your stuff. thanks, that sounds very plausible. Man I wish I had your know how and the tools. Thanks for all your help. Haven't had time to look for the sensor again yet.

Keep reading this forum and you'll be amazed at how much you can learn here from others who have been where you are now.
By the way, you really need that missing sensor hooked up otherwise your a/c won't function properly. I bet the temperature readout in the center of your a/c display is reading a constant 75 degrees right now..the default.
Been reading and learning from this forum for two years and still getting great info. Some posters aren't as generous with the info as you were, so thanks again.
Thanks for the kind words. You are very welcome. Personally I hate it when I see the "use the search engine" response when someone asks a question on this forum.
