Are you saying the 6l80 can’t hold 650’rwhp?
#23
Well thats just wrong. MY stock 6L80 with a Circle D converter has been perfect at 820rwhp for over 3 years. 2 TX2Ks in a row and countless other abusive outings and even four 145mph passes. If you can tune it right, and put a proper transcooler on for it it will live

Ha! It's happened to me a time or two. I noticed it because I'm sure some of the posters in that thread haven't been on this site in years. Dallas Performance doesn't work on Vettes anymore and Louis has been gone from LG for quite some time.

very low tire pressure to get the car to hook
air density
tune on the car ( if running into detonation on the big end , it may pull timing )
aero on the car
vehicle weight .
Converter slip
Just food for thought

What would need to be changed out from a genll LT1 D1SC unit with all piping
I have someone offering me a D1SC with all piping and 2 air/air exchanges off of a genll LT1 for the LS2 I pulled from my 05 c6. I replaced the ls2 with a fresh rebuilt LS3 with cam, headers, new clutch, x pipe and no mufflers as of now with tune... the goal is to get a supercharger and run e85 with it to hopefully be in the 700+ rwhp range. What would I need to change on the kit to run it on the ls3?

also to add to this thread my 100% stock ls3 (stock heads, cam, SBE, even stock headbolts) and my stock 6l80 have been over 800whp for awhile now. It's was at the 650-700whp range for a few years and last year I changes the pulley to get a little more boost. The LS3 is a solid base to use for boost. The 6l80 with proper tuning and basic maintenance will hold a lot of power.
I have 2 different ls3/6l80 cars and they've both been over 700whp without issues.

The ls2 has some small things different, mainly the haf housing part of the pipe. Also it depends is your ls3 wet sump or dry sump? Your best best is to contact procharger and ask they'll help you figure everything you need.

What are you running on it to get to 800? Pully/belt size and what supercharger? I'd love to get to the 800whp mark and still be reliable...

This combo trapped 10.3@137MPH at 4300lbs (bad 60ft 1.55)
On 19psi 70% ethanol with the addition of an Alky control meth kit running a dual nozzle setup (m10/m15) with VP M1 methanol. Haven't been back on the dyno but the car has run 10.0@142 at the same 4300lbs with higher temps and a higher DA.
The SS is my wife's daily driver and has been since the day we bought it. That's why I went with the blower route. My wife didn't want a cam/converter setup. We supercharged it right around 60k miles a few years ago. I just drove it today and it has a little over 92k miles on the car. We still use it to drive everywhere. The combo is fairly simple, ported lsa, kooks 1 7/8" headers, DSX aux pump, alky control dual meth nozzle setup with a 2 gallon trunk tank, a nice AFCO heat exchanger (the largest one I could get), roto-fab zl1 intake.
If I was to do something similar shooting for 750-800 on a c6 I'd do the A&A kit with a V1Ti 8 rib with a 3.6/8 pulley combo that would put the blower at 50,0600rpm at 6600rpm (max blower speed of 55k on the V1Ti) kit with flex-fuel and alky control meth injection on m1. Of course, some decent headers 2" would be nice but 1 7/8" will get that job done. No need for a new intake manifold or the larger throttle body on a centri blower car. Also since the ls3 cars like to break valve springs I would definitely change the valve springs out for a safe mind. This would still leave you with room to grow. Could always step down to a 3.4 pulley too, but proper tuning the 3.6/8 combo will get the job done.
For 500-600whp range I'd do the A&A V3Si with a 6 rib kit if you never plan on really turning it up, with either an aux pump or BAP on just 93 if you have 93 near you.
My C6 when it was SBE With heads cam nitrous was making over 700 on anything larger than a 150shot. I sprayed 250 quite a bit at some NT events. Now the C6 is a 416 stroker that should make right around 620ish NA.
