Never once did I hit the rev limiter until I got the A@A...now she pulls so hard and never gives up that I'm hitting it aaaallloooottttt!!
Is there any potential problems with this, any long term/short term damage to expect??? When you all do burnouts, do you start in 2nd or just bounce off the limiter?
So I dont hit the rev limiter, I have a shift light installed as part of the gauge pod. I have it set to light up 200 rpm before the limiter. that way I dont hit it so often. I do it so there is not time and rpms lost between shifts
I suppose there is some empirical evidence that hitting the rev limiter a lot is bad. I dont know
When doing a burnout start in 2nd. If you just hit the limiter every once in a while you will more than likely be ok but if you like to hit it everytime you shift you are not going to like the end result.
With a little bit of seat time with the new setup you should be able to hear when you're getting close to the limiter. I very rarely hit it with my 07 A&A car and I don't have a shift light or anything else to let me know when to shift. Just listen to the car.
When you get a nice bump in power it maybe helpful to short shift for a while until you get used to it. Then after time, shifting close to the rev limiter will become natural.
This is especially true if you cant put the power to the ground.

thanks for the replies guys. No I dont hit it everytime I shift, just when i'm playing around and lose my attention while paying attention to the sliding. I am dialed in right now and certainly dont want to rebuild. Just need to pay more attention all the time I guess. Never have a problem during max accelleration runs, just when playing around like I said. Didn't know if I was doing damage or not, sounds like a yes to me.
i can break the tires at any rpm, given some clutch play, but yes the tires do need upgrading....just wanted to wait until I wore the others out. No need to pay until necessary.

I went from an 01 SS to a 588RWHP vette and def needed some getting used to. I have a raptor shift light that helped me adjust to the new HP. Now, I shift right before or exactly as the light comes on. The light is great if you let anyone else drive it, as it allows them (and you) to keep your eyes on the road while shifting at your optimal time. Once you drive it a bunch, you won't need it anymore, but its still fun.
