Ask ECS, but the short version is head room. If your end goal is 800+ whp then get 2200. The 2200 flows more then 1500, but will come on softer with stock engine, but with restrictor disk this is diminished...
If your ultimate goal is big HP, then the pay me now or pay me later saying comes to mind - or pay for upgrade now versus trying to trade up later .
They are different size (cfm) headunits. The 1500 will support from 500-800 rear wheel horsepower, where the 2200 will start around 650 rear wheel, and support over a 1000 rear wheel with the right build.
The 1500 is rated at 1200cfm, and the 2200 is rated at 1450 cfm.
