Hey everyone, I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on buying a supercharger. Im thinking of going with the A&A kit or a procharger. I originially wanted turbo's but looking it over it just doesnt make sense financially, with the power I want. I want 500RWHP and thats it. Had a couple questions for you guys. Im not going to be buying from a shop but I will want them installed at a shop. How much did your installer charge you to install the kit? Xtreme motorsports is estimating 1500 + 500 for tune. I know they are a good and reputable shop, but that kind of seems steep for a kit that shouldn't take more than 8 hours to install, especially if they do it so often. The guys there had alot of knowledge and were very nice, but I talked to some guys at the corvette club around here and some of them knew people that installed the kit themselves and it took 8 hours. Assuming that they don't do it even faster since that's their specialty, that looks like 187 an hour!
Also, I know alot of people like the superchargers because they are quiter and such. That is actually one of the reasons I dont like the supercharger instead of turbo. Is there a way to make them any louder overall. I wanna know I have it in there, and not just in the power difference. I had a ride in a A&A Z06 and while the speed was pretty impressive, my car sounded meaner because of my exhaust!
You can keep your exhaust with a supercharger plus it will pass smog.
I think A&A had a install and tune for $6000. It might be worth it since you are not that far away to drive your car to A&A and either wait for it or fly back. Then fly there to pick it up when they are done. It shouldn't be too expensive.
I am dropping my car off next Saturday at A & A for installation of Vortech V-2 supercharger. I am keeping everything else stock. In California, we have very tight emissions compliance issues. A & A has a great special running now for $5995 for install and dyno tune of their Vortech V-2 supercharger system. That is one-half off their regular installation price. A great special from one of the premier corvette shops in the country. I am driving down from Northern California to drop the car off. I could not turn down such a great deal. Why not have the shop that invented the Vortech supercharger system that is used sucessfully throughout the world do the install and tune. No one knows this system better than they do. Call either Steve or Andy at A & A. They will answer all your questions. You can certainly make the sound you want with the right exhaust with the system.

Plus exhaust will get alittle louder with the supercharger install because you will be flowing more air out the exhaust. Its a no brainer in my eyes.
I think our intercooler design is absolutely the best for hot weather.
I've spent untold hours on air flow management.
We're the only ones that capture all the air coming through the grill and direct it into the intercooler and the radiator.
Download the instructions and see how everything integrates with the vehicle. A LOT of thought went into this design.

I just got my A&A kit in the mail. I called all around houton and $2000 was the going rate to install and tune a procharger so I decided to do it myself. The worst part of it is pinning the crank.
I just purchased and received the A&A SC kit for my 08 and will be installing it in the next couple weeks after I get my new radiator. I have installed SC's on two other vechicles (02 4Runner, 05 Silveraldo). As for difficulty, the 4Runner was very easy with excellent instructions like the ones that comes with the A&A kit. The Silveraldos kit (powerdyne) and instructions was not that great, but they are very simple to install. If you can change spark plugs and read you can install the kit, if you want to save the money.
Normally, pining the crank is time consuming, but with this kit, it comes with a placement bolt and predrilled hole in the washer for ease of the task.
If I lived in Cali and wanted someone else to install the kit, I personally would take it to the people that put the kit together and know it inside and out. Besides, they will tune it and have been tuning this exact system.
Good luck either way with the install...BTW, 500 RWHP is never enough! The cam, headers, HF cats and exhaust will come next. Then the next question will come, is 600 RWHP enough?
If you "only" want to make 500 whp then you will have downgrade the system to make 2 pounds of boost A&A is a great kit, 3000 miles on mine so far without a hitch. $1000-$1500 for the install is pretty fair, $500 for the tune is a little steep, should be more like $350. Good Luck

Just my 2 cents here but 500 is still fair for tuning a F.I. car. theres quite abit more work that goes into tuning a F.I car vs a N/A car there are several well known shops out here in SOCAL that charge more then 500 bucks for tuning of a F.I. car. again just my 2 cents. I'm leaning toward the A&A kit once i get my motor built.
