Im getting ready to pull the trigger on the new NT05R but im having seconds thoughts if they are the right tire for me. I'm at 600rwhp on a 19" rim. The car is a daily driver and I do some canyon driving. Im worried about how many miles I will get out of them as well as how they will handle. Any suggestions? Different tire?
So you are going to use the NT05R's for daily driving? How much mileage do you expect out of them? Any idea how the handling will compare to something like the R888's?
Hey man I sat on this same dilemma about 8 months ago. The R888's are just an amazing tire, the immediate increase in grip is incredible! Ive already seen 10,000 miles on them and I am just now to my wear bars. Witch isn't bad considering you can get them shaved from Toyo like that. Some of my snake buddies had some crap luck with Nitto but I cant personally speak on that. Oh and I'm running 295 on 19's. Hope this helps, Good Luck.
Who's got the 19" NT05R drag radials tires out for sale? Please let me know everywhere I've contacted say not in yet. I've got a spare set of OEM Z06 19" rims looking for them.
you can actually get the nt05r tires already. I actually have some of them myself. Im just waiting for the weather to get better before i take them out for a spin. I wouldnt expect too much life out of them simply because theyre DR's. If you want a DD tire try out the invos. Thats what i have currently and the road noise is significantly lower in comparison to the stock tires and they lasted a decent amount of time.
I say buy it! I ran the Nitto 555R1 on my C5Z for years...many seats.
I'm on my second set of NT-05's on my C6Z... 10k+ miles with 250+ laps.
Great tire.
I run NT-05s on my goat pushing around 475 to the wheels and get traction in first with 275s, the Rs are going to be insane. I've been waiting for such a great tire, and I think you're gonna start seeing them on a lot of C6s for a reason
I got mine at a local tire shop. i know WCC has them advertised on their site if youre looking for a larger vendor but i dont know if they actually have them. pm me for info about my source.
I'm at 5k miles with my first set of NT05's and the rears are shot. No burn-outs, proper alignment and PSI levels.... they are a good tire in the corners, straight line grip, from the beginning, is not as good as I thought they were going to be.
Personally, I don't think I'll get another set.
BUT, ya'll are talking about the DR version, the NT05R, not the standard NT05!
My opinion from what you have said is that you would be most happy with a set of Nitto Invo's. My next door neighbor has the same power as you/600rwhp and he says that his Invo's hook great. I have ridden in his car and I agree. Besides for a daily driver you want a good combination of dry performance/ wear rating/ wet performance. These tires do really well at all of them. I am at 750rwhp/750rwtq and I have played with many tires. I am going to put a set of 345/30/19 Invo's back on my car for 85% of my driving and then on my extra 18x12 rims I am putting the Mickey Thompson drag radials for straight line traction. There is no 1 tire that can do it all but honestly the Invo is a fantastic tire and very affordable for your power level.
They don't make the T1R in stock Z06 sizes. But I think they got them for stock C6 wheels.
The Invo's are ok, for a bit more money, I really like the Bridgestone re050a's pole position RFT's alot. I had these tires and they were great for about 10K miles. After that, a new set of rears was necessary to keep hooking in 1st at 45mph WOT! DEAD HOOKED about 85% of the time with heat in them.
The NT05R is a zero compound with a soft sidewall and no tread parrtern unless two straight lines constitutes a tread pattern. It there for will not handle well nor last long. It will be dangerous in the rain and on a 19" rim it will have less traction too compared to an 18".
