Default Another traction thread..

I dont want to do the widebooty/wheel mod. 594rwhp.. 305/30/19's in the back, Yokohama Advansport. I want to keep the same wheels since they look good. Any tire combo I can run that will help me hook on a 40mph roll?

I had the Bridgestone Potenza RE11s on my car in stock size before I did the 18" wheel traction mod. I think I PMed you the video of a run made on the RE11 at stock 285 size. They are rated at 180 tread wear which is pretty good for a street tire and they make it in 305/30/19 size too....
Many others are running the Toyo R888 in 305/30/19, which is an R-compound tire with a 100 rating.

I had toyo r888's 305-30-19 0n 615rwhp on stock 19/10 wheels. I'm also putting out 595rwtq which is very high for this hp.

I fried them in 2nd gear in any ambient temp with my stock 2.56 & my new 3.42's.

They are also noisy tires because of the large grooves. They sounded like a noisy differential!!

Also 19" toyo r888 only come in 30 profile not 35 (1" difference) so they look really small in the wheel well!

Now Irun 18's allround. 18/12 & 18/9.5
M/T345-35-18 & I stick 2nd gear in 65degree temps.

Switch to 18" rims and there plenty of choices for 35's and you'll get much better traction with 18's due to the taller sidewalls. 19's are very limited in tire varietys.

18x12 on 345/35/18 M&H Racemaster Drag Radials are what we used at the old shop on this 2008 Z06. Bob

My original rims aren't selling either. I'm thinking about ebay.

My Iphone makes it hard to interpret sometimes, OK my eyes are going too:-)

Gotcha. My story is this: I actually liked my oem wheels so I sent them out to be widened. They came back the wrong size. Crappppp! Than I started searching this forum for pics of my color car with different wheels & found ones I really liked & they weren't expensive either.

Those are really nice wheels, what sizes are they?

Good Luck!
I just have to do the same thing you did and look around. I'm sure there are wheels that look good in 18's..

I Love mine. It's not the rim height IMO. They key is to get a 35 height tire. I had 19/10 stock rears with Toyo 305-30-19's & they were too small because there is a 1" or so difference between 30's & 35's.

I put the 2 wheels side by side when I had them off the car. My M/T 345-35-18" with 18" z06 reps are exactly the same diameter as my stock oem 19" with the 35 high runcraps & the new 18" rims don't appear to be small at all.

I had a set of ZR1 replicas widened to 11.75 and ran a 8mm spacer with 325/30-19 Invos and they hooked very well, those wheels are now on a friends car with 335/30-19 R888's on stock fenders. The fit perfectly and he's getting great traction!
