How about some tire updates!!!!
I'm sure this is still up for debate, not looking to see which tire is better, just how the different choices held up over time and use!!!
I use to have toyo 305-30-19's. They were not good enough for my application.
Got rid of the 19's & went 18/12's....m/t 345-35-18. Awesome tire. Dead hook 2nd with 3.42 gears, 31 lbs of air, on a 65 degree day!! 18" rims are better for traction.
Going up to 700 in 2 weeks then we'll see how they really do!!
Long term results:
25 - 1/4 miles passes... Burnout every time.
500 street miles...
Worn down to the cords.
Pretty much done.
They hook(ed) great on the track and were a blast on the street spinning through 1st and trying to grip in 2nd (spinning but accelerating). Never tried them in the rain, nor would I want to. With <20 psi, they wander and float around like an old caddy so the twisties weren't much fun. But on the freeway they were fine for me. Others might not like the loose feeling but compared to full slicks they were fine.

Looking back at your question, the tires held strong until the last 100 miles.
They never got greasy or noisy. The compound held up and stuck until fully worn.
After they are done and the good rubber is gone, the traction quickly disappeared.
