Hi all, I'm considering buying a used Procharger from a fellow forum member. My mechanic has advised me otherwise but I would like to get some feedback from folks who are more familiar with FI.
My car is an 06' C6Z, it has around 45k miles. Mods include a small LG cam package with full exhaust (530whp) installed roughly 40k miles ago. Is my motor too broke in to add a supercharger? If not, would I need to change any of the internals? Is the Procharger for the Z06 reliable?
Lots of people running around with similar combination. Don't really see a need to be worried about the mileage on your Z. Just get a good tune and you should be fine.
You'll like being blown .
Mike
Edit - no internal engine mods, bigger injectors, BAP (boost a pump), kit installation...

Do it and feel good about it... And no offense to your "mechanic" but use someone else that has more experience with centrifugal supercharged C6 corvettes... It bothers me that he tried to push you away from it, leads me to believe he hasn't been around the C5/6 F.I. scene enough... I hate to assume but that's a red flag for sure. Do NOT let just anyone do the install and more importantly the tune. Just my 2 cents

Sounds like he's not comfortable with it so he'd rather you just do something else. You'll definitely love the ProCharger set up. Don't let the mileage fool you either, 45k miles is not an issue at all. We installed an A&A kit a couple months ago on a C5 with 260k miles on it. He supplied the system and asked us to install and I about broke my jaw when it hit the floor when I saw the odometer reading. Runs like a freaking champ though!
I wonder if he was steering you away from a used unit vs new?
No, he just isn't a fan of the Procharger. He's got some horror story he was telling me about it blowing some motor after less than a week. I just don't know anyone that has one to argue otherwise.

I'm sorry but that is ridiculous. Forced induction is forced induction. The engine doesn't know what blower/turbo is compressing air into it. The ProCharger is not to blame for an engine failure. If he is the one in charge of tuning I would highly recommend looking around for a new mechanic.
