Default 408 ls7 power

Hi. I am biulding a 408 using an lq4/9 block .030 over bore. and l92 heads. I have and will be using ls7 4in stroke crank and ls7 titanium rods. i do not have the forged pistons yet. Im planing to run about 10.5/1 on the compression, run it n/a for a while. then a turbo later on.

with this setup how much boost could i run? what kind of rwhp would i be looking at with and without the turbo on 91 octain. should i lower the compression if my long term goal is boost? what pistons should i use with these heads and stroke to get this compression ratio? thanks

Stock LS7 Ti rods run a small fastener and I would not reccomend that you use them past 750rwhp. Especially if you are "building" the engine you should pick up some Callies rods.

You can run that compression and more depending on the octane rating of the fuel you plan to use.

Lower compression will tolerate more boost on the same octane fuel VS higher compression.

Piston selection would be best handled through your engine builder for many reasons.

600 - 800.....that's a big swing from truly reliable to almost ***** to the wall reliability, if that makes sense. If your like most you will get use to 600 and want more. Just doing what your doing says, to me, your not going to be happy at 600. Trust me... 600 isn't that much but at least it's reliable. Build the engine to take whatever you can throw at it. Sell the rods and cut your loss.

Perfect. Now you have only lost $250 when you get some real rods.Selling them to get your money back or even a small loss will mean nothing when you are looking for a new pan that holds fluid.
