Default Methanol question

Is it better to run straight meth or 50/50?
A friend told me if you run straight meth it will
burn the pump up faster. But he runs a Beamer.
Lol....

both combos have theyre advantages, if you buy a good kit your pump wont burn out no matter what you run

100% meth gives you the most octane boost and allows you to make the max power on a stock block

50/50 provides some better cooling properties for lowering IATs where ambient temps are high

with either setup i recommend relocating an IAT sensor downstream of the injection nozzle to act as a safety just in case

You're telling me 50/50 lowers IAT's more than straight methanol?

First, it takes more energy to vaporize water than methanol.

Second, methanol does combust or oxidize(burn) generating some minor additional heat. Water does not combust, only vaporizes removing some measure of combustion heat and retarding detonation.

I have personally logged lower IAT's with straight meth over 50/50, but maybe thats just my findings.

We run straight VP M1 in all the cars we do. Its 35 bucks for 5 gallons of it so its not expensive at all.

The water is going to lower combustion temps more...not IAT's. I run 50/50 with great results.
