Default Forced Induction Temps

Hello all,

I have a recently completed forged motor, blower cam with a YSI set up on my Z. The car runs strong, but I am extremely frustrated with the coolant temps. Would you all mine sharing what your forced induction setups normal operating temps are and what the ambient temps are outside?

Thanks,

Thanks,
My V-3si at 7.6psi runs about 194-205 with ambient temps in the mid 90's. If im on the highway it will hover in the 186-189 range.

sl2200 650rwhp 10psi, 160* thermo - when ambients above 80 i see temps 220+ in heay traffic and 200 moving, not that its 60* im seeing 190 on the road.

the problem is a) we're blocking a nice portion of our radiator (our cars werent designed with FI in mind and there is virtually no room for an IC up in there. b) the intercooler requires the plastic radiator shrouds to be removed alowing air to blow past the rad and into the engine compartment, im going to seal the front bumper off and make a sort of ram air for the rad and see if that helps

with high power levels comes higher temps, it just means your having fun

You might consider replacing your stock oil cooler with two smaller curved ones from Earl's and mount them where your fog lights are. Install flat black mesh screens in the openings and plumb the two coolers in series. At least you will not be having the factory oil cooler preheating the air before it goes through the radiator.

We all have that problem of running warmer with a SC because as mentioned the IC blocks a good part of the radiator.
I run as high as 210 in traffic when it's in the 90s out. These temps are not bad compared to the 220/230 range these engines will run with the stock T-stat. You can have your fan to come on earlier and let it run longer, that will bring and keep the eng temps down...my.02c

In the heat of the summer up to 210 with 198 being the lowest I could ever see.
Having a dewitt's and dual fan setup this week due to temps that had me putting the heater on at times.
One of those upgrades that most C6 supercharged owners maybe should do as part of a build early. Cooler engine, cooler interior, more power, & engine longetivity.

I have a 2007 LS-2 which was a bone stock car, and then added Edelbrock's E-Force supercharger, a 160 T-stat, and the Dewitt's radiator upgrade. My car was completed in late August of this year but I still had plenty of drive-time with it 95 degrees or higher outside.

I see 170s at highway speeds with the A/C on. I can get just over 200 in very slow traffic for long periods, but it comes down to 180s and 190s quickly after that.

Recently after returning from a 60 mile drive across town, I let the car idle in the driveway for a while with the outside temps around 85, and the A/C on. Coolant temp peaked at 196.

My set up including a dewitts and the dual fan upgrade. I think part of my problem is the draw on the dual fan set up. I believe the way mine were wired in was giving me a charging problem and the fans were cutting in and out when this was happening. I have since put the stock fan set up back on with the dewitts.

We run the dual fans through the PWM controller and have no issues. You might try that route.

My fans are programs for constant on under 20 mph, and at 100% at the lowest temp setting. I run 196 degrees most of the year, 198 in summer in traffic, 201 was the highest I've seen. This is on a stock radiator and thermostat.

What are your temps currently?

We use the dewitts set up just like yours and set up like Taylor described and have had good luck with that.
