Default ProCharged ZO6?????

I've got a chance to buy a 2006 ZO6 that has been procharged for a great price. It makes 621RWHP and 575TQ on a dyno jet. I know the shop that did the install. The shop has installed many of these, with no problems that I have heard of. Just don't want to buy a $14K crate motor if the thing pops!

How reliable are these cars with that kind of power? It's at 6-7lbs of boost. The car is real clean 15000mi. Looking for warnings or reassurance from you guys that are in the know! Thanks!

If it is tuned well should be fine. Clutch will need upgrading if it hasn't already.

No real concern about the motor popping at that boost/power level assuming a good tune.

Thanks, guys. Assuming the car is not tracked, just played with a little every now and then how long will the clutch hold up. The Pro Charger was installed at 6600mi. It's at 15000mi now. What does a upgraded clutch run?

A decent clutch is ~$1500. Labor if you can't do it yourself is ~$800-1000.

If you beat on it at all, with that power leverl it won't hold up.

Even if the motor lets go it's extremely unlikely to cause $14K in damage.

You'd likely be able to refresh the rings, pistons, etc without requiring a new long block.

Always take caution when buying any modded car. We can tell you it will run great and last forever, but it may pop the day you buy! Or, it may run great and you will get years of enjoyment out of it. But hey, you can say that about any used vehicle.

If I were to buy another Z, I would buy a blown Z. Money saved!

If the purchase feels right, go for it! If you have any doubt, walk and something else will come along. It took me 1 1/2 years to find "my" perfect used 2007 Dodge 5.9L CTD Mega Laramie 4x4. ANd I looked at many!

The person I would be buying this from is a friend. He doesn't beat on his cars. It's extremely clean and well taken care of. I am actually very good friends with the owner of the shop that did the install. The 1st owner put @ 6k on the car than my friend bought it and had the procharger installed.

After looking thru this site I have not come across any broke motor stories. I am sure there are a few that I have not read yet. The HP numbers for this car seem to be conservative for this car compared to many on this site that are still going strong and likely driven much harder than mine would be. So I guess this car is as good as any. I know the tune is the main thing, but I have confidence in the tuner.

The stock clutch can hold up surprisingly very well as long as you are not doing monster hole shots with it. Change the fluid frequently and you will be surprised. Im at 677rwhp with 27,000 miles and still on the stock clutch.

Thanks Guys. I have read more on this site and some say 4lbs of boost is all that should be run on a ZO6. How many think 7lbs is too much on a stock motor without meth?

As long as slipping is limited to reduce wheelspin. I replaced mine probably unnecessarily in expectations of a problem. I will say with street tires I can slip the heck out of my Spec super twin carbon and it just gets stronger.
