Default Vortech Head Unit Choice

Getting ready to pull the trigger on an A&A kit for my 2006 Z06. HP goal is around 650rwhp.

V3 SI Trim is recommend to applications up to 650rwhp.
V3 T Trim is recommended for applications up to 750 rwhp.

Will the T Trim and SI Trim both put out the same amount of boost with the 4" pulley? or will the T Trim be too much?

I plan on upping the boost after I get my short block built later next year.

Which head unit would be the better choice?

Between the 2, get the T-trim. If you ever get really power hungry, you can sell the T-trim to a S or Si guy wanting to upgrade. You can't sell an Si to upgrade so easily.
Other reasons: better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
It's only money.
It lasts longer than a case of beer. (it better)
If you're like most all the rest of us, once you feel the boost, you'll want more and you'll be pissed if you didn't upgrade because your tampon got in the way.

There couldn't be any more truth to this statement.

When I had a turbo failure when I first put my TT kit on, Taylor asked if I wanted to go ahead and upgrade to billet wheel turbos and my tampon got in the way. I could have found a way to pay for it, but hindsight is always 20/20, I guess.

Skip both and go with the YSI. If you are building a shortblock later, you will need the YSI. It will cost you quite a bit later on to upgrade. But, at a minimum go with a T-trim.

yup, also get self contained as I oil is better matched to high speed bearings and gearing then motor oil.

Trust me I'll put the biggest Head Unit on my car that I can run, but I don't want it to blow up a month later either before I have a short block finished. Even then I don't think my goal will be much more than 700rwhp for my daily driver.

My main question is if I have use a 4" pulley with the SI Trim, T Trim, or YSI Head unit: What would be the boost difference be on these head units on the same engine with that pulley ? I don't want to toss on a T Trim on a stock motor and be pushing out 15 lbs of boost.

Also not familiar with using restrictor plates... how does these work to reduce the boost? Also heard they are harder on the S/C..?

I just did one today with a standard Si Trim and a 3.8 pulley with a small blower cam. It made 664 RWHP and and 580 RWT with only 12* timing.
The Si Trim is a very efficient blower.
