I'm getting ready to take the plunge and go FI on my 07 z51. What Cold air intake will work with the E-Force? I currently have a Callaway Honker. Will I be able to keep this intake or do I need to buy another? I guess this would mean buying a new radiator shroud.
The E-Force comes with it's own air filtration system.
Motorhead-47 found that a Halltech Beehive can be easily modified to work with the E-Force kit. I took his advice and added one to my 07 after e-forcing my car.
I looked at the Callaway CAI when I was putting my car together last year. Although I never had one in-hand to try the fit I don’t think you can re-use it with your Edelbrock. If you look at the photo below you’ll see the intake snout of the supercharger snakes around the pulley. If you look closely at the upper left of that photo you’ll see the air bridge that takes you from the supercharger to the air filter. You’ll see that it is not a straight shot but rather the airbridge has about a 15 degree turn which I’m pretty sure forces you to using that air bridge. There is also the issue of your LS2 MAF. The Edelbrock comes with a newer style "card MAF" that fits in that air bridge plus that air bridge has a crankcase vent fitting that you will need. To re-use your Callaway you would be connecting to the end of the Edelbrock air bridge and I don’t think the geometry is going to work (not 100% positive though).
I stumbled across a pretty inexpensive and effective cold air alternative. You will need a new radiator “baffle”. The Callaway requires a huge hole in the one you have now so sell that one with the Callaway Honker when you are all done. The new one is only about a $35.00 part. GM Part # is 10305278 and is described as “Radiator Air Deflector/Baffle”. If you’ll take and make two small cuts (areas #1 and #2 in the photo below) this will allow outside airflow to reach the air filter. I used a box knife to make the cuts.
Here is a shot from above looking down into the area where the air filter will sit. See the openings on the left and right side?
Same baffle with openings as seen from below
The last thing you’ll want to do is isolate the air filter from the engine compartment. I found that the Halltech “BeeHive” shroud is a very close fit. This piece is about $125.00 http://www.southerncarparts.com/corv...ive-p-626.html and will isolate the intake from the under hood heat. You’ll need to trim the lower right side corner to make clearance for a cooling hose but it’s a simple cut.
When it’s all together it makes for a pretty clean setup

Ken's Halltech “BeeHive” shroud mod is highly recommended. After installing it my IAT's dropped to more desirable levels in under 5 mins. Before installing it might take 15 mins of steady driving to bring them to the same level.....
Inexpensive mod that really works! Thanks again Ken!!
Nice. So you use the filter setup that came with the Eforce but surround it with the Bee Hive shroud. That sounds pretty simple and clean. At $160 total that's not too bad at all. I wanted to hang onto the Callaway for dorky reasons anyway. My girlfriend bought it for my birthday one year as a surprise. This was some great information. I'm working on getting all of my parts ordered.
