Just wondering about whether or not to do headers when (if) I add a blower to my '10 Z06...I was told that they would/could actually LOWER psi @1psi...which would utlimatley be a good thing on the LS7. I was told that if I get a 6psi pulley and add headers then I would be pretty close to 5ish psi which would keep the power level but lower boost. Is this accurate? Or is it really neccessary...I know it would be louder but that is secondary. "lowering" actual boost would be a good thing, I guess.......Many guys are just putting a blower on the ls7 with the stock manifolds and calling it a day....
Is it worth the cost vs benefit? I have read that the stock LS7 manifolds flow well.
There is a cyber grey z06 that England green did same kit as mine except they also did headers and hi flow cats. We had identical baseline hp numbers and he had 5 more rwhp when done at similar boost. I don't think I would add headers to my car for 5hp. Maybe there is more to it than I'm aware.
If you're into wringing every last pony out of it, put the lt's on. If not, enjoy a quiet smooth Z that will outrun the vast majority of anything you'll see on the road. You can always do it later. Outside of a tune adj, it won't cost any more to do it down the road a bit.

Gotcha...so you don't see the benefit of lowering actual psi? Thanks for your input.

Headers wouldn't give u much HP with a S/C. *BUT* Headers will INCREASE your efficiency of your setup. So if ur making 600 rwhp wo/headers at 6 psi; u'll make say... ~600 rwhp w/headers at 5 psi. And if you buy the right header/Mid pipe you can also shave about 30 lbs off the car.
And up to certain amount of power the LS7 manifolds are very efficient.
But if your looking for MORE power.... a cam will give you much more over headers as stated above.

That is exactly what I wanted to hear! Thanks for your input!!!!!

My car made 562 RWHP at 9 PSI with stock manifolds. My ex GF's car made 551 RWHP at 8 PSI with headers (and I believe the timing was dialed back a bit from what it could have made). blower kits were identical. You WILL see a shade less boost with the headers but it certainly won't hurt you for power.
You will make about the same peak hp and torque figures with headers, but with a little less boost. The real advantage is all throughout the power range, where you will be picking up about 30 lbs of torque.
