Default E-force sucking oil

FACTS

2011 LS3 GS manual dry sump

1590 kit with Edelbrock supplied dry sump parts

oil pouring from air filter

oil all over front of engine where it's blown though the radiator

originally thought that the balancer/front cover seal could be leaking but inside of balancer pulley is dry

at least 2 quarts sucked in 200 miles

???????????????????????????????

check valve needed on air lines from dry sump to filter and a catch can from pcv line at valley to supercharger?

How did your install compare to the 1574 instructions? Specifically around step #44.

Where would you like your chicken dinner sent?

That's oil consumption number 1, now to determine where all of the engine oil is coming from on the exterior. Can't tell if it's all from the filter blowing back or if there is another issue.

Didn't transfer the oil baffle from old valley cover to the new one?

If you are puking oil out of the filter it's going to blow back all over the motor. Between the fan runnng and pulling it through and the normal airflow you'll have a mess.

nope, didn't transfer it...lemme restate that. I transferred it and then removed it before final installation after looking at the 1590 instructions again.

I just let the car sit and idle for 15 minutes with no leaks so it is either spitting this whole mess through the filter or it's pressurizing and blowing oil from every seal. either way, I have a mess to cleanup on a 1600 mile car.

Well the good news is we know what is wrong. And obviously the bad news is you have a mess and the car needs to come apart again....frustrating I know...especially with a new car and new install!

I doubt your car ran well at all with the oil it was ingesting.

Were they any instructions at all with that #15905 "dry sump accessory kit"? I ask because several months ago I queried Edelbrock about dry sump instructions over on their forum and got what I considered a real half-*** response from their engineer.

For others reading this thread...before Edelbrock came out with the recent release of the Grand Sport dry sump specific kits (#1574 & 1575) they were telling guys to buy either the 1590 or 1591 regular wet sump LS3 kit and then buy this "accessory kit". Since that time they have finished up a dry sump LS3 specific kit and have written instructions to go with it.

Here's where it gets crazy. So instead of purchasing their dry sump kit, I purchased the valley plate and hoses necessary to install the kit. Here's the kicker, the hoses they sent me didn't have one of the necessary T's to go on the lowest dry sump input (lower tank vent). I called tech and they overnighted me the missing T, hose, and connection.

I didn't have those instructions that you had the link for and I couldn't find them so I subbed the parts into the 1590/1591 instructions.

For oil cooling, I swapped in a DeWitts radiator with the built in oil coolers and then used the 05/06 engine oil cooling lines to run the engine oil cooler. This plan actually went great and was less expensive than the add-on ZR1 cooler if you were already planning on a radiator swap.

SO...everything is already disconnected and the supercharger unbolted but it's too hot to move at the moment. I'll pull it in the morning early and resolve these two problems.
