Default Just a question or two.

If you have a Vortech supercharger with 7lbs boost without a booster fuel pump and a 190* T-stat and running low on fuel on the upper end and going lean. Could this blow your engine?
Thanks

You'll get varying answers from you don't need it until 5xx rwhp to you definitely need it. At 7psi you'll definitely be in the 5xx range.

IMO you don't want to skimp out on the fuel system.

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? I would be worried about hurting the engine if the pressure was any lower than 50psi under a boosted pull. My A&A car with stock LS2 pump and a KB Boost a Pump never drops below 58psi.

You saying they did not install the boost-a-pump (fuel pump voltage booster module) when your kit was installed?

It's included in the kit for a reason and needs to be installed, or an upgraded in-tank fuel pump instead. Running without any fuel system upgrade would be very unwise, in my opinion.

...your friend is on borrowed time with a supercharged car running lean up top! That BAP needs to be installed now! There are photos all over this forum of FI cars with lean runs and they are not pretty pictures.

Here is one for reference but there are much worse ones out there. Notice the vented block in #5 and #7 as well as a cracked piston on #3. Same scenario...car was known to be running lean up top and the owner continued to drive it.

P.S. Tell him to fire his "mechanic" and find one that understands what he is doing!

Is it truely running 'lean' up top or is it just running low fuel pressure?

My car dropped to 45psi fuel pressure while maintaining 11.8 a/f to redline.

Yes, the standard systems come with a booster... unless it was ordered without it and the injectors in a "tuner" kit. Did the shop install a different fuel pump instead of the booster?

Are you sure they didn't install it? Or do you just not see it? It may not be in the engine bay....it may be inside the fender
