Z06 gets an A&A kit
Just dropped off a huge envelope of cash at my local A&A dealer. Ordered a V3-si kit for my 2006 z06. Will also be ordering an innovators west crank pulley and blower cam once we decide which one. Leaning towards an A&A stage 3 blower cam, but the ECS blower cam is tempting too. Is it taboo to mix parts from those two companies?
Last October I put a QM Black Mamba cam in my car. It makes great power. Last dyno was 550rwhp/522rwtq. Car drives like a dream. It does have a mean idle and you know there is a big cam in it. I wanted some more and was going to do some heads and high compression but then I rode in a 2007 LS2 vette with an ECS kit. All it had was a base ECS kit and kooks headers. It made 575rwhp. A quick trip to the store in it to grab some margarita mix for the party we were at and I was hooked. Drove and sounded like stock until he floored it. Then it went like a bat out of hell. The next day I decided I needed a blower.
At first I was debating A&A vs ECS. The local shop has done a lot of ECS kits and they all run great and look great. He told me he just became an A&A dealer and was interested in doing one of their kits. I decided to take him up on his offer.
I'll be pulling my Haltech FG102 intake, vette-air scoop, and QM Black Mamba cam out as soon as the blower gets here. Those will all be for sale. Since I'm doing the blower and want a nice tame car I'm doing a blower cam since I'm in there. If anyone has any advice the cam isn't ordered yet. Car already has LG 1 7/8" headers, Fast 102 intake, and NW 102 TB which I'll be keeping. Shooting for a good 650rwhp.
I'll keep this thread updated with before/after dyno charts, install, and anything else. I can't wait to get blown.

Yah. The shop I'm ordering all the stuff will call A&A tomorrow to order the kit. Gave them cash today. He didn't have pricing on the cams from them, just blower. I'm going to try to get the A&A stage 3 but we will see what they have. I don't want to be waiting weeks for a cam.

Not sure if the NW102 TB will work with the A&A bracket. Maybe the TB could be turned around and the wires extended? I believe you will have to knotch the blower bracket with the FAST intake and stock TB. Interested to hear if you can make it work.

Just have to swap the TB and extend the wires. Xtreme in Tempe just did one. They confirmed it is no issue.
Mamba is a great cam but I want stock like driveability. For a big cam it is great. I need to convince my friend to swap it into his car. He currently has a lethal and I think the mamba would be a much better cam for his car.

I got to say I'm super impressed by the ECS kit and that is what all the locals are running. I just went with the A&A because they are down the street from my mom's house and I figure if I need anything from A&A I can always go visit my mom. Stupid reason but I had to decide one way or another.

We have quite a few guys running around with our Stage 3 cam. Great power and great drivability!

Steve,
I will next time I'm out there. In fact maybe you guys just come meet me at the beach house. We have a sweet place just south of Carpenteria right on the beach. Jordan said he placed the PO for the blower but you didn't have any cams in stock so he is just having comp make one to the same specs.
Randy,
Will be done the day it shows up or two after it shows up. In fact I'll probably pull it apart 2-3 days prior to the parts showing up and have it all ready for the cam to swap. I'll run whatever boost it makes up here with the 3.8" pulley. Probably ~5psi from what I can tell. Swing by and we can just swap my cam into your car. I'll do it cheap.
Probably going to do a katech c5r timing chain while I'm in there. Any other suggestions?

Everyone wants a ride already. I may have to charge admission.

I don't think you will have a problem cracking 650rwhp. I got word today that mine did 638rwhp PRE-meth tune, with 8psi. I believe the 3.8 pulley on a V3 made 10psi on a stock cam. Should be a hell of a setup! Good luck and keep us posted!

Thinking of adding an ECS/Alky Control meth system. Decision, decisions. I think it will make more than enough power without it. I got meth all over the place at work so getting it is easy. Maybe I'll add it in a few months.

Do it! Nice kit. Pulley it for 6-7#s and break 700rwhp.

Just noticed in the XMS A&A z06 thread where they used a NW102 TB it looks like an older NW102. Not sure if mine will fit. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Worst case i throw a stock TB on it and sell the 102.

Cam just got ordered.
228/234 .622/.633 115LSA
Should drive nicely and make good power.
