Default Too Hot!

First, I know there are other posts on this subject so if I just missed what I am looking for in an other post please just let me know.

I have an 05 c6 with a vortec supercharger and cat back exhaust, and that's about it for power mods. I am also fairly certain it has the stock thermostat, and as I bought the car with the mods I am not entirely sure about the stat. Now my question, is there an air cooled oil cooler that I can put on the car with out having to mount it behind the fog lamp? And would possibly just a 160 thermostat fix my higher oil temps?

You having oil temp or coolant problems? Does the car have an engine oil cooler at all? I'm going to assume no.

Without knowing more details on the car, I'd probably install a Dewitts radiator with built in engine oil cooler and a 160 thermostat.

If the car has a factory Z51 cooler in the radiator, you will see the lines plugged into the drivers side of the radiator.

Is your radiator a stock plastic style or aluminum. Post some pics so we can help you.

I am not being allowed to post pics as attachments for what ever reason. But it looks like stock radiator. Getting the car on a lift tomorrow for better look.

No, but you can host them on imageshack, photobucket, etc. Then paste the link into the image section. Pretty easy to do.

But yeah, if it looks like a stock radiator it probably doesn't have an engine oil cooler. If the car is an automatic or a Z51 manual, it will have a trans cooler on the passenger side of the radiator. Should be very easy to spot the cooler lines from under the hood.

I can't remember if 2005s had a factory oil cooler with Z51 or if that was a 2006 thing. I do know it was an option on some of the earlier cars, since I bought a set of cooler lines to use with my Dewitts radiator.

2005 Z51 package includes the oil cooler. You can see the connections on the driver side of the radiator.

It's the z51, oil temps when cruising down the fwy at 75 are any where from 220-230, havnt got on it too hard in traffic or light to light yet due to some other issues that are being cleared up by a local shop. I beleive I am looking at some oil lines going into the radiator so I assume it has some kind of oil cooler in the radiator, but any chance the headers I am putting on will help keep things cooler?

Is that a local car that you bought? Who did the install? I'm assuming it has the A&A kit on it.
