Recently my balancer(belt) started chirping. Popped the hood and see the crank pulley doing a wobble dance. Dropped the car off at the shop. Doing some research I came across a post where A&A says to only use an OEM balancer with their kits. Anyone have any info on this? Any other tips regarding this topic welcomed.
I was thinking about pullying it down and adding meth but now Im concerned about future problems with the crank pulleys. Theres a lot of issues regarding them that I wasnt aware until after a quick search here.
If your car is stock then go with a stock bal & save some $$$ but if you are putting out some serious HP & /or have gears installed go with a 1 piece. The gears really make the engine wind up quickly! I have 345's & 681 HP & Mine separated & hit the steering box! Luckily it happened while ECS was road testing it & they were able to upgrade me that same day!! Interesting, the belt stayed on with a 1" difference in alignment!
I can understand not wanting to shell out ~five bills for an IW balanceer. I would go with powerbond or SLP before going stock though. They can be had at a reasonable price. Check Summit.

I had my stock balancer take a crap on me too, and I'm n/a (just bolt-ons). Can't offer any help except to say that if you can upgrade to an ATI, I'd recommend it. I've used them on past blower cars (F-bodies) and have one on my racecar, and they've been fantastic.
