Default Replace Headers with Stock Manifold?

Anyone who has followed my threads knows that I have a built forged LS7 with a YSI A&E supercharger on it along with B&B headers and full catless Akrapovic Ti exhaust. It sounds absolutely wonderful, but it attracts a lot on of attention. This winter I'm thinking of putting the stock exhaust manifolds back on to quiet it down a bit and improve the smell. which is really not that bad, but noticable. I'm currently at about 800 wheel hp which seems to be limited by the spring in my Mondo BOV. At least that is what I think since I have lowered the diameter of the SC pully three times and the boost stays at a max of 12 psi. I'll be pulling that off soon to check it out. So my question is, how much HP do you think I would lose by going to the stock headers?

If it's the smell, then just throw some high flow cats on it instead.

I bet your boost jumps with the stock manifolds back on there. I'm guessing 50rwhp loss at your level.

50rwhp seems reasonable

ls7 manifolds and cats don't flow too bad... I think 50whp loss would be on the high end... till the cats melt and clog up

800 wheel is a lot of flow. It's much different then the N/A comparisons you see between the manifolds.

As an ls7 manifold user planning to swap to headers around that power level I hope you're right

You will blow those cats out fast at your power level, causing the car to lose boost and power. I wouldn't recommend cats at 800rwhp. I blew mine out at 630rwhp within 2000 miles and it screwed the entire powerband of the car up. Had no idea anything was off until it was put on the dyno. I'd put on some more restrictive mufflers that quiet the car down, and then retune it if needed.

I've heard of aftermarket cats being blown out, but has anyone ever blown out the stock cats?

The LPE ZR1 used stock exhaust. It no longer has it on there, but it went high 9s at 14x and made 730ish rwhp.
