Just got mine in today from Summit. I'm not seeing seven layers. There's one metal layer on top, then a bonded layer inside that could be counted as many as three layers I guess, then another metal layer on bottom. They say "FRONT" and "60L" on either side. They are in Genuine GM plastic with part number 12622033. I can post pics if I need to. Seems like they are not LS9's but the part number is correct.
Yea I triple checked the part number but I just don't see seven layers. They're also supposed to be 4.100" bore diameter and they measure out to 4.046. ~.050" smaller than spec?
Starting to think someone packaged these just before their lunch break. Actually they have "made in Germany" tags on them so maybe they were made just after lunch during Oktoberfest.

The pics I've seen online also have the 60/62L like Chris'. Hope I don't get and static returning them. Been seeing a lot of incorrectly packaged parts lately.
I was thinking, I know I've seen a pic of one with all the layers spread out. No idea it was in one of my own threads. I never ended up doing anything when I posted that. Just backed my tune off to a reasonable level; no detonation = no water pushing.
I was going to say I thought they said 6.0/6.2L like Chris's. And I remember them being 4.090 or 4.100. I can get some from Erik tomorrow if you want me to Bill LMK.
Summit should take them back and eat the shipping so no biggy.
Thanks Jeff, I don't need them right away and need to put a list of other GM part #'s I need (pilot, throw out, balancer bolt, real LS9 head gaskets, '06+ AC line, front and rear main seals).
Going to count the links in the timing chain right now...
Is it possible that GM updated the part to the cheaper one? I would check that out first. Lots of GM's parts have gotten cheaper in quality in the past year.
I don't think so. The bore diameter is different. That link above showed me where to look on the actual gasket for the part # which on mine is 12589227; LS2/L76 head gasket, which is supposed to have a 4.020" bore and I measured 4.046". They are still supposed to be .051" thick, they would work, butthey're going back, I want the LS9's.
Ahhhh shoot! Parts Taxi shorted me one LS9 head gasket on my last order. To their credit, they next dayed me another one. The gasket that came with the original order is wrong like yours. The one they next day aired to me is correct. Go figure.... I was hoping to put my motor together today. Guess I could run into Houston and pick one up, but they're $25 higher at the dealership.
Guys let me know where you are getting your "correct" 7 layer LS9 gasket from. Last thing I want is the gasket screwing up my entire build. I am pretty sure my shop will spot it immediately but I don't want them to go thru the hassle so I will order it myself.
