Default Too much for a daily driver ??

I'm looking to upgrade from my '97 to a C6 and I found this.... 2005 w/ the LS2. At 35k miles the owner had a S/C installed running 8lbs of boost with meth, headers w/ stock exhaust and a "built" transmission with a 3200 stall. The car now has 40k miles. My question is, is this set-up going to be ok for daily driver or is it going to be like driving on ice every time I get on it ? would I be wise to have the boost lowered ? I forgot .... it has the stock rear end which is 2.73 gears I believe. How many miles can you expect with a set-up like this ? any help would be appreciated, Thanks ! Most important... the price is right

If the car checks out and is mechanically sound. I dont see there being any issue with this car as a daily driver and a rather nice one at that....

I have an 06 C6 Z51 Auto...I have a complete stock bottom end with the same gears...I installed LS3 heads with intake and have an ECS supercharger at about 45,000 miles...I was running 7.5-8 lbs, of boost intially and it ran fine...I added meth and upped the boost to 11 and I drive it every day...It runs fantastic because under no boost, it drives like stock...When I get on it, the power is incedible, but you have to know how to control it...Especially this time of the year when the tires are cold and hard...At 8 pounds, you should be fine, just know your car and it's capability...
I have 69,000 miles now and everything is great...Still no issues with the bottom end, tranny or rear...With those gears, I'm at 70 MPH at 1600 rpm's...I still get 27 on the highway and 17 around town and it has dyno'ed at 631 RWHP (765 at crank) and 636 ft. lbs. of torque...
Enjoy your car, it's the best car for the money....

If the car is mechanically sound and the price is right, go fo it! Ask some questions first about who did the install and tuned also. Both can make a big difference with a supercharger in terms of longevity of the engine and driveability of the car. I daily drive my supercharged 2007. I have 64,000 miles on it and about 35,000 of those miles are supercharged. I have had 0 problems. Mine drives like stock until you really jump on it. Like any high powered car, you just need to modulate all that power with some common sense use of the go pedal. Mine is a manual, but many on this forum are driving supercharged automatics, with no issues. 8 pounds of boost is about right, no need to consider going any lower, especially with meth which will help keep the intake air cool and the cylinders happy at higher boost. I expect a lot more miles with my set up. That's my 2 cents. Good luck with the decision.

I forgot to mention a few things. He said it has 525 H.P. on the dyno and the meth is run out of the winshield washer tank..?? Is this common ? How much meth can you expect to use as a daily driver and where can you buy it ? As you can tell I am new to this S/C and meth thing. I was going to have one installed to my 97 this summer but i figured this would be a better choice. I am going to go look at the car this week anything besides the normal things I should be looking at or asking ? It was installed at a very good shop (same one as I was going to have install one on my 97 ) Thanks a lot guys !!

525hp won't be a problem for daily. Meth will depend on how the car is set up and how much you get into boost. When I drive my car like a normal person I usually use 2 gallons of meth a month. When I'm out playing I will use 2 gallons a week. As for where to get meth in NY, someone else will have to help you out with that.

Typically the Meth is put in your winshield washer tank so you will have a reading (washer fluid low) and know thatt you have no Meth left...They usually set you up with a backup for washer fluid somewhere so you can still use the cleaner...You can get Meth at race tracks, or I don't know how far you are from East Coast Supercharging in NJ, they sell it too...You'd want to call the company that installed it, they might have it and let you know which Meth they are running...
525 is probably to the rear wheels, so that is good HP and easily handled on the street...The amount of Meth will depend on how much you are in boost...Typically the Meth comes in around 3 lbs. of boost depending on setup...I would call the group that installed it and ask them questions about the car and their setup...

The weak spot in an '05 is usually the differential. I've heard of folks trashing them at stock like power levels. Depends a lot on how you'll be using it. If you know you have the propensity to get rough with it, you might consider updating it before it becomes scrap metal.

I know of a 07 vert for sale with 12,300 miles with a 6 speed manual plus it has twin turbo's. It is very streetable.

The beauty of meth is that you use 0 when cruising, it only comes on at 4lbs of boost and up. I drive semi aggressive and go through about a tank (1.4gallons) in about 500 miles. If its a problem to refill it you can have the car retuned (10lbs is safe on pump). You dont need a separate tank for WW fluid, I find meth to do a better job (evaporates faster)

Good luck with purchase

I found meth at a local speed shop

Everything he said is on the money. As for the ice-skating - the beauty of the proposed mods is the ability to control one of the MOST important variables - your right foot! Enjoy it as I do my 1000+ rwhp almost-daily driven C6Z06
