It would have been pointless for you to know about it. You would have to fly to the factory, and walk the block line to find one that met your standards. Almost EVERY one of them have it in some form or fashion.
Being that Kurt is one the the absolute best LS builders on the planet, I would take his word before I took GM themselves..

I've been told it was an issue in early LS1/2 blocks, and this one was from a 2005 corvette. Just something to think about in the future.
