When tuning for NOS, can it be done on a dyno using a wide band? Is this method the best way? Are there other methods to tune effectively on the juice? Now this is after a good tune has been setup for N/A Z. Thanks. Have been reading about it and there has been some discussion about this subject. I'm not a tuner by any means. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
You need timing to be taken out. Rule of thumb is -2 degrees for every 50 horsepower. Make sure to have the correct plugs, preferably a ngk non projected tip plug. Oh and it's nitrous not NOS cause NOS is a brand.

Thanks for the info. Can you tune for nitrous on a dyno with a wideband effectively?
What is done to your car and how much are you looking to spray?

Z has LT headers, Fast 102, Vararam, and ported TB. Reason for asking is that there are some that dont believe in tuning for nitrous on the dyno with a wideband. They read their plug and apparently make adjustments to timing , fuel, and nitrous. So reading the plugs is how they tune. Would like have a clear understanding on this matter. Thanks.
I do both. You have to keep in mind that the process for a race car on a bunch of dope is going to be different vs a average street strip car. For an application like yours you are going to spray max 150hp. I would put it on the dyno, lock in the N/A tune on the correct spark plugs with an airfuel of about 12.5-13.0 and then dial in the nitrous with the right amount of timing pulled and the airfuel about 11.8-12.0 There is nothing wrong with checking plugs at this power level though.
For max effort, radical nitrous tuning I read the plugs. I still use a wideband to see what the car did down the track though. The plugs are the most precise way of tuning. But its an art and many tuners have no idea how to read a plug.

Dave, thanks for taking the time and explaining. Great info. So 150 shot should be ok for my setup?
