I have a2006,M6,Corsa ex,Kooks LT headers, base coupe.
Installed ECS and dyno 567whp. This is not my dd and with only 4k miles on the blower the water pump pulley broke.
Is it something I did or didn't do or should have done? Is this a frequent problem? Never been on the track or over 5500 rpm. Leaned on it maybe only 5-6 times only.
Unless the belt was overly tight its not something you or your installer probably did wrong. If the belt is too tight it will not have the room to flex so it can snap or at worst case break the waterpump. We have seen a few break over the years so its not something thats commen but we have seen it. If we do have one break we have upgraded with an Evans pump. They do seem to cool a bit better and have a much stronger bell where the belt rides. Any questions feel free to give us a call...

2 Days ago the same thing happened to the water pump bell on my 2008 Z while I was leaning on it in 3rd gear. I currently have 6000 miles on the car and 2500 miles on my ECS SL1500 kit but I can't see the belt being too tight because the spring tensioner should moderate that.
Note: If this problem isn't isolated to SC'd units then maybe more people would find this thread useful in C6 Tech/Performance. That's where I was searching at first.
