Default '08 Z06 Overheating? 230+

When idling the car sits at a comfortably cool, but as soon as you get going the temperature will steadily increase into the 235+'s. I've replaced the radiator (with a GM factory), gone through two 180 degree thermostats. Before it would warm up really quickly and move up through the 220s into the 240s fairly briskly, but I then drilled the thermostat to see if that would fix the problem but it seems to just take the car longer to heat up.
Mods done:
Pro Charger kit (Intercooler)
Snow Meth Kit (currently doesn't have any meth in the reservoir as I ran out)
headers
exhaust
tune
CAI

I've also tried burping the coolant system to no avail. Any ideas? I've been pondering upgrading to a dewitt radiator..

check the fan plug on the back of the rad fans by the pass side frame rail, above the fan controller. it likes to melt, unplug it and look inside both sides

You should look at a radiator upgrade and possibly installing a B and M transmission cooler as well. The temps you are running are too high for sure. I have experienced the same issues with my supercharged C6 and In all of my corespondence and reading there is definitely a need for some extra cooling with these upgrades.

Make sure the fans run low & high. What did your tuner do to the fan settings?

I just got the car, so I'm not sure 100% what the tuner had done to it is there a way to check for 100% power all the time to the fan?

Also what radiator/fan assemblies do you guys recommend. I was also looking to see if I should get EWP. One more thing if I put the car into accesory mode the temp gauge goes up to ~220 (the car is off) does anyone else's car do that? The temp sensor has been changed also.

The stock settings are high fans on at 262, low fans on at 235 and top speed is 90% for 30 minutes.

LG motorsports makes a nice race proven SuperCool radiator that holds 1 gallon more of fluid.... Also there is Dewitt's and there are several people out there offering dual fan units. We are using the LG unit on my car and we are running the water coolant mix at 70/30. I do not see a lot of below freezing weather and when the temps are really low outside she usually stays in the garage. The guys at Lethal told me that they now strongly suggest the upgraded radiator and the additional tranny cooler with supercharger installs. Just my two cents from the experience I have had so far...

Get a 160 degree thermostat, Dewitts radiator, and adjust fan settings. A blower creates extra heat which the stock cooling system cannot handle. Also, you may want to hard wire the connections at the fan plug mentioned above. Mine melted a few weeks ago.

I think I remember Procharger kits being somewhat infamous for heat issues on C6s because of the position of the intercooler (particularly its proximity to the radiator).

If it idles at the correct temp but soars while driving it's probably not the fan.

It's probably an issue with intercooler placement. Can you post pics of it?

Oh crap! I read right past that info. I agree, it's not the fan. It's a lack of airflow through the radiator.

Alot of good info. Do a check list.
1. check fan switch connector
2. hard wire it
3. replace rad and put a dual fan on it
4. I would add water wetter
5.have tuner set fans on earlier.

You should be good then.

Procharger intercoolers sit way too close to the radiator IMHO

Not sure what the issue could be but I have a Procharger kit and my temp stays in the 208-210 range and its even lower during cruising.

Funny when I was taking the old radiator out I said that the IC looks really close to the radiator.
If I upgrade the radiator I definately want a dual fan unit. I also just picked up some methanol as I found a place fairly local that stocks it @ a 99.95% purity going to mix it 60/40 water to meth.
Going to check on that fan connection ASAP.
I'm thinking about going with
http://www.dewitts.com/pages/product...asp?ProdID=346
http://www.dewitts.com/pages/product...asp?ProdID=427
for the radiator setup.
Oh and the fans are tuned to come on early w/ (~210 according to my best guess) more power.

procharger updated the rad cradle so the intercooler is not too close to the radiator to disturb airflow, do you have a "newer" style cradle??

I wouldn't call 210 "early" for the fan to activate. My blower car (with DeWitt's radiator/stock fan) runs right around 198 degrees idling in traffic, and usually in the 170's-180 at steady freeway speeds. I'd say your fan should be coming on before 200 degrees.

Is the car totally fine if you just let it idle? What about cruising at 70+ in 6th gear?

When I let it idle the car doesn't over heat stays pretty cool ~200
When I'm on the freeway (70+ 6th gear) is when it starts to overheat.

I'm pretty much set on upgrading the radiator. Is the Dewitt with a Dual fan worth it? Or should I just go with a dewitt and use the stock fan?

Oh and I just checked the fans came on way early than 210 definitely below 200 but at a lower speed.
