Default upping boost???

car is running descent but still havent seen 9lbs of boost yet car made right at 650 making a lil more than 9 so since i dont drive around at 6500 rpms i was thinking either get car tuned without restrictor plate or at least bring it up to 12# to have more power n torque down in lower rpm range....where it can be used...what u guys think???? WILL STOCK BOTTOM END BE OK???? open to all sugestions! !!! oh n its a manual with a ecs kit meth n cam.....n does CUTOUTS affect my rwhp any?

I personally do not think you should push 12# of boost on stock internals. I did and the results were not so good. I think if she is running fine now and handling the power maybe you should run her awhile and plan on doing forged internals before upping the boost. Just my 2cents but you well know I have the bad experience to back it up.

Just spoke with my engine guy a couple of days ago, and your sentiments echoed what he said. Top end of my car is built, but not the bottom end, and he's a hell of a tuner.

He said 7#'s wouldn't be an issue and would make great power on my engine in it's present form. Asked him about 10-12#'s, and he said no way on a stock bottom. Forge it, and then no issues running 15#'s if I wanted to get silly.

For the OP - based on that, and things I've read on here and elsewhere - no way I'd run 12#'s on a stock bottom. I understand when you say you don't run it to redline, but what happens the day you inadvertantly get close to that while enjoying the machine?

I also have a centri blower (vortech) pushing 8lbs at redline. I love my top end rush but would also like a bit more on the bottom so I am trying a 3.42 rear end. I'm hoping this will make it quicker and get me into my boost sooner.

Having it installed soon. Will post my results.

In my years of modding cars, the #1 lesson I learned is to not get greedy. Pay more upfront and have no headaches. Or go cheaper, have fun...then lose it all and pay out the *** to get it fixed.

Just my opinion brothers! I've pushed stock parts to the limit far too many times and had to pay the consequences.

Talk to Doug or Chris at ECS.

They designed the kit with the restrictor plate to maximize the down low torque. Removing the restrictor will not add HP/TQ where you drive it............also what they said above for the upper end of the RPM range.
