Just got the car back from an A&A SC install. I have an A6 with a 3200 stall as well. In 35 degree weather and very minimal spirited driving (NO traction) I saw trans temps as high as 217. What will it be when it's 85 out and I'm pushing it? Is a good trans cooler required? If so where can I stuff it? That inter cooler took up a lot of room down front.
Yes, a good aftermarket cooler is practically a must...especially with a higher stall on top of a s/c. In 35* temps you should not go over 180-185 on trans temps even after pushing it a bit.
Try a search in the Tech & Performance section for info on location of the cooler.

Reason: add info
Yes in my experience and research any shop that actually knows what they are doing will tell you that you definitely must have an aftermarket tranny cooler on a s/c and stall build.

I've had good luck (and know others who have too) with running one large or two smaller coolers without running through the radiator. IMO if you're getting over 125 degrees when ambient is 35 you gotta do something ASAP. I never saw 170+ with a big stall in a 4700lb truck. And that's beating on it in 100 plus degree heat...
