Have a Vortech T-trim on my 06. Last year the balancer went and had it replaced with another GM unit. Well, here I am today and got the call that it went crapola again! Should have swapped in an aftermarket one but heard that they can be a problem with S/C'd cars. Anyone have any ideas on what brand to use thats not too expensive but will last longer than the POS OEM ones? Thanks in advance for any help.
Depends on what blower setup you have. I've had great luck with IW but they don't fit with A&A brackets and 6 rib. ATI and IW both make good pulleys but you need to get what will work for you.
Except as mentioned, you have to have an 8 rib with the Vortech S/C.
That is incorrect, I ran bought the 8 rib IW to run with my ECS Novi 1500 6 rib setup so when it was time to go 8 rib I didn't have to purchase another damper. I'm pretty certain the 6 rib also works fine but like I said I went 8 rib on the damper because I knew eventually I wanted to upgrade my pullies to go 8 rib.
I have a 2010 with t trim and talked to Josh @ a&a and he told me to get a c-2501 summit. real nice balancer and have not had any issues. would definitely recommend thanks Josh!
Let me know how the 6 rib Powerbond fits with the Vortech S/C.
update- picked up the car today. PB is installed, drove the car home today in the rain. Noise free, not wobbling and no issues in the short 15 mile drive. Dont expect any problems but will update if things go wrong.

That's what they told me to use. The diameter of the piece that fits through the oil seal was a little too small. It pissed oil all over once it warmed up. They had to drop my rack and installed my stock damper along with re-pinning the crank. They weren't happy having to do that. I will get a Powerbond or just do the 8 rib conversion if it starts wobbling on me.
power bond make 2 difernt styles. one is not sfi approve but says it holds together with high revs and is superior to oem balancers and cost $75. The other is $220 and is sfi approved . if your just looking to upgrade for a basic blower add on, will the cheaper unit be just fine for most of us 600 and less hp people ?
