Anyone using a shift light? I've been thinking about installing one but never really jumped into looking into multiple brands. I just sometimes don't even notice how high of an RPM I'm at and with the procharger the top end comes on quick anyways.
Just looking for something cheap and easy to install. Don't feel like spending more than $200. I think someone on here uses a Shift-i mounted towards the windshield so you can see the reflection. I don't mind that idea as long as it doesn't block the HUD. Maybe even something that will fit on my gauge pod.
It has like 7 different patterns including a standard mode
Heres mine set to 3k so you see how it behaves, you set the low point (when the leds start) and the high point (where they flash).
and at track
How difficult was the wiring on that? I like it in the window like that as long as it wont get in the way of the HUD. I thought about getting the curved one and putting it on one of my gauges but then again I always seem to bust my knuckle on them so that may be out of the question.

3 wires; hot, ground and tach signal which is the green wire from the harness going to the main cluster
Seems easy enough. Sadly I think the shift light has to wait. Last nights storms down here got a couple of my O2 sensors wet and now the rears are throwing codes and the wideband is all over the place. It still somewhat works but I'd rather have it 100% correct before I even try to go WOT again.
My last car had an Autometer Pro shift light that the original owner hid in the a/c vent to the right of the steering wheel. Can't comment on the installation obviously, but it was pretty trick. You couldn't tell it was there until it came on. Just food for thought.

That's not a bad idea. I know my old Mustang had gauges you could put in the A/C vents but still use the A/C. Was pretty nice looking too. I'm probably going for a sequential that's out in the open so I can see it easily and know right when to shift. My problem is I use street tires and probably always will since my car is my daily driver. The tires sometimes break loose in the higher gears and it's easier to keep my eyes on the road and see where I am in the power band so I can either shift or lift at that point.
In my road race car I use a shift beeper, for me it has been way better than any shift light. Starting 800 RPM before the programmed shift RPM it will beep once every 200 RPM then a solid tone at the desired shift point. It is quite loud and you don't have any issues hearing it with a helmet on
