yes it can be prevented. you need a good tune, dont spray to big a shot for your setup, only spray wide open throttle above 3000 rpm, have all the safety devices. rpm switch on and off fuel pressure switch, retard timing high octane, wide open throttle switch.
stay far away from nitrous it feels just like what they portray in fast and furious................................. .......... Jus Playin', If its done right it could be very effective!
So I've been watching some videos on YouTube on c6 with nitrous and came across this video: http://youtu.be/-1cPuJza_Aw
I'm curious to know, is this a risk everyone takes when running nitrous? Can this be prevented?
he probably had detonation from hitting under 3000, or timing, or lean, it backfired then blew the phenolic intake, then it blew apart then the injectors or fuel noids line kept spraying fuel hot motor or spark set the fire and the nitrous feed it, with some of those safety devices that wouldn't of happened or an aluminum intake
nope, all that will do is let it come in slower, you can set how much and how fast, and it pulsates the noids causing premature failure. plus it comes in slower and not enough power it makes it spin more, i found stages and harder hits plants the tires once loaded
You mentioned safety devices, what were you referring to? I appreciate all the help btw
a micro wide open throttle switch, the noids wont activate unless floored, if you come on with a timer push a button it will still deactivate when you let off the throttle, also fuel pressure switch it wont let it spray if fuel pressure is low. dual rpm switch, spray comes on at what rpm you set and it goes off at the rpm you set, so say 3000 rpm on and 6900 off before shifts or rev limiter. i have mine set up that way and a fuel cell with C16 when it sprays , a wide band hp tuners to log, read the plugs, nonprojected tip
I saw some Corvettes from a local Houston shop at the last Texas Mile going over 200MPH with nitrous. No explosions or anything like that, and they were spraying all the way down the Mile. If done properly, it's as safe as any power adder.
If your not an anel person stay away from it
I see too many dumb a$$ tring to use it.
I have used it for years and only one misshap, with NX crap. I will never buy again.
Use a controler and bring the nitrous in down the track
Never shoot more than a 100 shot and you should be good for a long time
i have been spraying mine for 3 years now. this year its on a 200 shot. just like everyone said just get all the safety stuff. A good controller will do almost everything. I also have a stand alone fuel cell with c-16 in it.
Biggest problem with nitrous, specially on the little shots, are people installing half assed kits. Stuff like using a micro switch behind the gas pedal, no window switch, insufficient gauge wiring to the solenoids, no pressure gauge for the bottle, etc.
