I just upgraded to a V-3 T-trim. Before the upgrade, there were lots of squealing coming from the area of the blower on the si trim. I knew that the bearings were bad and that the blower was basically 'shot'. I was hoping that the bad blower was the source of the problem, but to my dismay, it was not. Even after the swap to the new blower, the loud squealing noises are unbearable! The neighbors definitely aren't liking me at this point. You can still hear the squealing with the windows up and music blasting!
I've heard many suspect the belt, but I highly doubt that belt could be the source of so much noise. For those of you who've dealt with similar issues, what was your fix?? Car is pretty embarrassing to drive at this point.

Start the car without the belt to make sure it's a pulley or keep the belt really loose. With that kind of nosie turn each pulley by hand and maybe something wilkl show it's face. It's a start. Another thing you can try is get a tablespoon of comet yes that's right comet and while the car is running sprenkcal on the inside of the belt.

To eliminate the things on the other side, we took the belt off of the alternator and started the car, as we suspected the Mighty Mouse was still on duty. Thought about starting the car without the belt on the blower, but then we'd have to take off the unit and remove the belt to ensure that a hanging belt wouldn't get caught up in the pulley's. While the car was running, we did squirt some liquid on the inside of the belt. The noise would go away completely, but come back as the liquid wore off. We now know that the source of the noise is the belt, but I had no idea a belt could be that loud. Will be picking up a new one tomorrow.
With regards to Comet, I saw a YT vid where a guy rubs soap on the inside of the belt...seemed to worked well, but I wonder how often you'd have to 'soap up. the belt
Twas the belt! After a change to a new HD belt, she's been quite as a mouse.... up front that is. Out back, the Corsa extreme and that cam is giving my neighbors fits!
We're guessing that the weeks of belt slipping that I was having due to the blower stalling had glazed the belt.
