Hey all,
Looking into doing a direct port setup on the LS2. The plan is to just buy bits and pieces here and there so at the end of the day, I have exactly what I want. I also plan to put together a stand alone fuel setup as well, but that won't come till later.
That being said, where is everyone running their fuel supply lines from? I see a lot of the plate and single nozzle systems just tapping directly into the fuel rails, both aftermarket and stock. Will I be able to do the same with a direct port system? Will I need a Boost-a-pump or anything?
For the time being, I planning on a single stage pushing out no more than a 100 shot.
This isn't exactly what I'm going for, but here's a little car **** to set your minds in the right direction...
As far as I know, all of the standard single nozzle or plate kits on the market use the fuel pressure test port to supply fuel to the N2O injector. This is usually adequate for a "100 HP shot" as jetted in accordance with the kit's instruction manual, unless you're already pushing the limits of the stock pump with other mods. In terms of overall quality, I think the NS kits are among the best although they tend to cost more.
IMV it makes little sense to use a multi/direct port (i.e. "fogger") system for a 100hp shot. The jetting will have to be extremely small on a V8 to get down to that level. In fact, at that level, you could use a "dry" system (with a single injector nozzle in front of the MAF) easily. I ran the NOS dry kit with two nozzles with 175hp jetting on my old 1998 Camaro for many years without any problem.
Like I said, that's just for the time being. Eventually, I plan on pushing the envelope and taking full advantage of the systems capabilities. More so once I build a stand alone tank. Mostly, I want to have a project to work on and tweak to perfection. I'm not looking to throw on a single nozzle system in a hurry just for the quick gains. I know they're fully capable of producing big power, but I like he functionality of the direct port system and I'd like having the room to grow as well.
Thanks or your input!
