Default Axles... the next weak link..

As I follow up to my "weakest link" thread I thought I would post up a pic of the latest weak link found.

I am trying to decided between just sticking in a C5 axle, or going with DSS axles and hubs. I am going to sleep on it but I am leaning towards a C5 axle. It literally took me less than an hour to remove this one in my garage. I'm thinking if the axles are the weakest link, they are the cheapest and fastest fix, so that suits me. Who knows what I would break next if I go the DSS route.

What kind of power does it take to snap a C6 axle?

I have seen stock C6 and stock Z06's break axles. I think it is mostly due to improver torque of the axle nuts, People hammering on them with an impact gun.

That may be so, but I am a fanatic for torqueing things properly and do my own work, so that was not the issue. I think it was likely the hard launch at the track that did it.

I did that before at the track then replaced it with another C6 axle. Went back to the track and it was perfectly fine.

stock axles for sure (maybe with ECS loops if you had any issues w/ it whipping around)

I'd much rather swap an axle than anything internal

As my sig says I have the loops and glad I do. I really think anyone with power who races would be silly not to.

Do c5 axles you can pick them up new for cheap, and i Know of a couple 1000hp cars that have not had an issue with them.

I say go c5 axels and if you break those too quick, then go the dss route, but honestly you could break like 10 axles for the cost of the DSS ones. they must be CNC'd from Wolverine's adamantium skeleton!

C-5ZO6 axle is your best bet until you break down and get the
high priced axles. Make sure you have a tranny brace.

Are those DSS shafts you snapped? No sense in paying for high dollar shafts for the same result...

Car is mean!

Thanks for everyone's input. The axle that broke was a stock axle. I have ordered a C5 axle and will try with that for now. If I brake another, I will have to try the DSS ones.

Apologies, you're are running the DSS shafts not the axles. Read one of your previous post where you went thru the diff.

Car is awesome!

That is what I first thought as well. There is another member with 650 rwhp running the same axles without an issue. The manufacturer of this axle sells to most of the OEM's.
