Default Iridium plugs

Who's using them? I'm currently using a copper NGK BR7EF and was going to try a TR7IX. I'm at 12psi and 719rwhp using E85 and meth.

I change my plugs so often anyway that I stick with the coppers. Much cheaper.

Haven't put mine in yet but several friends love them. Other popular choice is the ac delco zr1 plugs. Factory zr1 plugs, also used in LSA/etc. Plenty of high boost Camaros making 700-1000rwhp on zr1 plugs.

AC Delco 41-104

I'm at 10lbs of boost and using the TR7IX. At the track (1/4 mile) with the AC Delco 41-104 and/or TR6, I was picking up random knock. I have not had a problem with random knock using the TR7IX.

I'm using the tr-6 pre gapped at .039. They work great. The only draw back I see with them is the coldness they stumble a little the first block
or two. But once they are warmed-up they are fine. They only last about
25k then they go down hill. Proven by adding a fresh set. Car runs better. But they are cheap! Seems the 7's would be too cold but
engines vary a little.

I just got some TR7IX plugs. Now I need to figure out what to gap them at. Anybody?

There seems to be a thousand different options on this. Personally, I wouldn't use a projected tip plug on a boosted application. Many use the NGK and like them. I am using Brisk Silver Tip Racing plugs. They run perfectly and last a long time.

Gap them just like any other plug, just be careful to not damage the tip of the electrode.

Always stuck with coppers with any FI application. Best spark and cheap to replace.

I like iridium plugs with boost or N/A. Copper with nitrous.

Got the TR7IX gapped at 29-30 for 14 psi boosted ZR1.

Absolutely true. Leave the TR6's and ZR1 plugs alone.

For your power level OP you should be running atleast 8's. Iridium is fine but i've always ran the copper plus i check and change them often. Some may complain about a colder plug not starting or whatever but have it tuned correctly and it will be fine. Keep your setup safe and run the correct plugs.

Most every vette I've seen coming through my buddy's shop had tuning issues due to the Iridium Plugs, mine included. That tip stays too hot and causes all kinds of detonation. Best to go with copper like most do with FI Applications.

Exact opposite experience here. Iridiums cleared up all sorts of random knock. No issues at all with them.

On several big boost cars (35-45+psi) they just stutter and have all sorts of issues but a set of iridiums clears it up.

My experience tuning boosted cars both ZR1, PD and Centri has led me to switch cars from 7&8 range copper to iridium with no negative effects on tuning and positive effects on idle.

Of course if you hurt a plug the aren't as forgiving as copper.

Both the Denso and NGKs are good plugs for these cars.

AC Delco 41-104

ZR1 plug is WAY to hot for that much hp... There is certain "tuner" Who uses them in 2010+ camaro stuff but i HIGHLY suggest not using them

Run the Plug you were running ... No need to switch

Agreed but I still like iridium, 7ix or 8ix. That was 4 months ago, agreed that the zr1 is too hot for much over 650hp.

We all do. That being said, I don't think that car blew from the "wrong" plugs but a combination of a bunch of issues.
