Default Do I need a better alternator?

I still have the original alternator that came with my 06. It's the 145 amp version. I know GM came out with a 150. Now that I have the A&A kit, should I get a higher amp alternator? At night with lights and ac, the amp sit around 13 and sitting in LA traffic every night means lots of idling.

Does the 150 make any difference or should I go 170 or 240?

If you are going to upgrade I would suggest a minimum 240. Just my two cents.

What does your voltage look like at idle when hot?

With the supercharger it fluctuates just above and below 13. When the fans kick in it drops below 13. On the freeway around 14.5.

I would say a HD alternator would get you to ~14+ all the time. Whether thats "needed" is questionable.

The 170A alternators from Bret on here are badass. I got mine 2 days ago. Is it needed? Not really, is it a good upgrade, yes. My voltage would drop to 12.2-12.3 when the car got really hot. I upgraded for a steady 14+.

I was getting service charging system messages and it was a PITA! This new alternator 170a fixed me right up. 14.5v dead nuts on at ALL times.

That was my 3rd Alternator. lol I kinda got tired of being dicked around with the stock OEM alternator and getting the DIC messages.
