Default Small winter mods....

My car is sitting in my garage and I wish I had more things to do to it this season. This winter seems very long here.

As you can see here, there is really no rush to get things done.

After procrastinating for a month I finally installed a belt with smaller SC pulley and a larger idler pulley. It is hard to tell from pictures, but the larger idler definitely gives a little more belt wrap and I shouldn't have any slipping issues.

The only other thing I have to do, besides some tuning, is to install this stronger pump for the eforce intercooler system. It is debatable, but I am hoping that this combined with more fluid capacity will help to keep things a little cooler, or at least cool things quicker.

I know, this is nothing exciting, but it is a long winter and I felt like posting something.

We have tons of snow here, just got about 2 feet yesterday. I wish I had the energy to get out in the garage today to do some work. Good luck on your project

Lots of CTSV guys seem to use this pump and like it. I hope it's not too noisy but I never heard that mentioned about it. It's no. 50840-0012. Cyclone pump.

Once the weather clears and you have a chance to test the new pump configuration, let us know the results. The standard pump with switched control and Icing the Moroso reservoir between runs helps with IAT's at the track. Curious to know if you notice a big difference with the new pump. Also buried in snow. We have had snow everyday for the past week.

Will definitely post results once the weather permits.

I finally got around to installing the new pump for the intercooler. I was a bit of a pain because the front bumper has to come off but once that was done it fit well in the place of the edelbrock supplied one. I used the same bracket so everything fit perfectly.
I added a switch under the hood so that I can turn it on between runs at the track, either with ice in the reservoir or without. The new pump is not noisier than the old one but flows noticeably more volume.
I don't really have real world IAT results yet. On the dyno (I never had high IATS anyway) it definitely cools things down quicker when I would run the pump between pulls.
We did a little re tuning with the smaller pulley. In the end we left it with the same power, but with a little less timing and a slightly richer fuel mixture. More power cant really be used on the streets here and my goal has moved to enjoying the car reliably every day rather than squeezing another 10th out of it at the track.
For reference, the eforce with the 2.75 pulley made about 14lbs of boost through most of the pull, peaking just under 15 right at the end. The poor little blower is maxed out right at about 20000 rpm, and if I decide next year that I want to go back on the hunt for HP, I will be switching to another system, possibly turbos.

Thanks to Seth at Federal Performance for doing this for me. I have become lazy in my old age and didn't feel like tackling this myself this time.

New pump compared to old one....

We just went to check the cats and sure enough they were fully blocked! Time to put it back on the dyno and see the gains!

To elaborate a bit on this, yesterday when we got off the dyno both Seth and I had a nagging feeling that something just wasn't right. We decided I would leave the car and they would take off the cats in the morning, more for a preventative measure than really thinking they were blocked.
Sure enough, as you see in the picture, they were totally screwed. Now I know why the car never ran to its full potential last season, besides breaking every drivetrain part possible.

Once Federal saw the cats this morning, Seth put the car back on the dyno. with no change at all to the tune, it made 45 RWHP more on 2 lbs less boost. After a few tweaks, the final numbers are 780 RWHP / 770 RWT. As you can see in the posted sheet, that is on 12lbs of boost through most of the run, and then peaking at about 14 lbs up top. I am loving the HP curve and surprised that little eforce carries the 780 right to 6700 rpm which is as high as we ran it.
I finally feel the car is where it should be with the mods it has, and I am thrilled. Lets hope for a nice trouble free season.

Thanks again Seth.... your a genius.

Here is another sheet showing a bit more info. The boost does a funny little dip around 5800 rpm, which could be a bit of slip. I am not going to worry about that as it doesn't seem to be causing any dip in power or torque.
