Default When to use a 8 rib

I have an 08 LS3 with the A&A Si trim with a 6 rib 3.8 pulley. I'm looking to drop down to a 3.6 pulley for a little more boost, do I need to worry about belt slip and upgrade to the 8 rib system? Thanks for any info!

No way you shouldn't need an 8 rib @ that power level... My car made 700rwhp 675rwtq and I'm still on the 6 rib making close to 14 psi... I'm ok right now but any more mods (fuel system, cam etc) that I do I will be adding an 8 rib with direct drive! You should be good for awhile with just the 6... If your gana spend the money do it with a cam because you'll save money in labor while everything apart - Eric

Yeah, this next round includes a cam, and 700hp is my goal. I may hold off since I can find a better use for a grand if its not needed. I've been happy with 600hp for two years now, so 700 should hold me for a bit. Thanks for the info!

3.6 no. Below that either a direct drive or 8 rib would be a nice upgrade.

Might as well do it when you do the cam because like I said you'll save in time (if your a DIY) or labor from a shop since the rack has to be pulled for either or might as well do it when you do the cam swap! Just my opinion!
