Default PRC 285CC heads?

Anyone running the PRC 285cc heads on a boosted build wondering how they will do on a 1kwhp twin 427 build 15-18psi seem priced good with TI valves or should i step up to the Mast 305's?

A friend was doing almost 1100rwhp with their LS3 260cc heads on a 416 and Novi 2500. I think the PRC LS7's would probably do pretty good. How much more are the MAST heads spec'd out how you want them?

The PRC's are about $3200 with TI valves?TI retainers or $2800 with hollow SS valves which may be fine for my build i only plan on spinning it to 7K rpm. The Mast's start at around $3400 with light weight SS valves and steel retainers.

~16k miles all 700-1050rwhp boosted here on PRC 285 with Ti valves. Paid $3k shipped for them when they came out. No issues. Came assembled with PRC .650 springs/etc.

Every single local car I know making 1000+ is running PRC heads.
376ci Ysi PRC260 1090rwhp+ (probably 1300+ now)
416 Novi 2200 PRC260 (1012rwhp)
My car, 1048rwhp, PRC285

So what was the reason for the builders to not use the PRC's did they give a explanation?

Build quality n warranty issues. Same goes for their complete long n short engines. Texas speed don't have a good rep for building quality. More quantity.

#1 reason I find builders/vendors don't recommend a part is because they don't sell it or low markup on it.

I know other early versions of LS1/6 prc heads were prone to cracking maybe that was why they did not want to mess with them. Never heard any bad about the LS7's.

They are probably remembering about the PRC modified stock casting heads. Not the new castings they have now. In the end it's your money and you need to feel good about what you do.

I hear ya! I was hoping the TFS ls7 heads would pop out soon but those keep getting pushed out further even though the LS3 255cc heads seem like a good deal and flow as well as the ls7's even better on the exhaust side just got heavy valves!

I don't know why they insist on putting heavy valves in those TFS heads. At least give the option for other valves. Otherwise it forces you to get bare castings and build your own.

I've seen poor results from the TF255. People gaining barely any power on NA setups, then swapping to WCCH ported stock ls3 heads and getting 30+hp. Now that is N/A builds but I know a lot of shops aren't enjoying the TF255s.

Default Tfs 255

I'm pleased with my set . I ordered mine from total engine airflow with 5 angle valve job , back cut the valves , light weight valves ect .... I'm also currently blower shopping . Last dyno pull was n/a 517 rwhp . Will post boosted results with same cam . I like the prc heads as well . I see them every where and they do make power . Blondes , brunettes or red heads . Up too you .

What did those TEA modded heads set you back if you don't mind me asking and did you get flow numbers with them?

Im thinking in the neighborhood of $2700 to the door . I ordered them with every option but titanium valves . I will dig through my crap when I get home and get back to you on that one . THESE WERE FLOWED WITH STOCK LS3 BORE 4.070 . NOT 4.125
lift int exh
.250 189.1 153
.300 228.5 178
.350 259.5 196.8
.400 290.5 215
.500 331.7 231.2
.550 347.4 235.4
.600 361.7 238.4
.650 371.6 240.9

My cam only has .630 lift so I wasn't concerned with lift above .650

Just ordered the new pistons, rods, rings, and bearings today. Shortblock should be out of the car this week. Blower should be back from Vortech at the beginning of April. So I'm going to guess mid April. Just in time for my birthday.
