Default LS7 Blower question

I'm trying to keep up with Grocerygetter whom is posting about 600-700hp range just below here.

I was asking my shop about doing a blower set up on my 07 Z06 and they said that they would be concerned about doing a blower on an LS7 without adding forged pistons and Ti or inconel exhaust valves.

I'm currently running ported heads, cam 232/245 .646/.638 112, Halltech CF112, Headders w/ catted X, and Billy Boat fusion.

How necessary is changing the pistons and exhaust valves if I'm staying below 700hp?

Is the cam I'm currently running going to be OK with a blower? I know a lot of guys go with the blower to get the power without having to deal with the big cam problems, but I don't mind the little bit of surging I get in exchange for the awesome sound and looks I get out of the cam.

Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

You don't need forged pistons for under 700 hp. Having your heads checked and ported/polished wouldn't be a bad idea. It's a major debate in the z06 section on changing valve guides and exhaust valves on the LS7 heads. So do your research and go from there as you feel comfortable. Personally, I have bronze guides and Ferrea "super alloy" exhaust valves. The combo worked well when I had a blower on the car.

The cam is fine. Are there more efficient cams out there for running a blower? Yes. It's not going to be a huge matter because you aren't shooting for high numbers that require getting the most efficiency out of your engine.

My thoughts? Have your heads checked, decide if you want to do the "fix" with the valves/guides. Throw a plate kit on there with a 100 shot, go lay waste to your buddy and call it a day.

Agreed. Check guides, replace or fix if needed. Stock motor besides valves is good for a solid 750rwhp with enough octane and good tune.

I got new guides when my heads were done, sorry I should have mentioned that, but I just went back with the factory valves after they were polished.

2008 Z06
stock short block
Bronze guides, stainless steel exhaust valves done by horsepower addicts
cam that was when I was NA making 562 rwhp
long tubes
BAP, Fast Rails, Fast 72 lb
FAST 102
Dual nozzle AIS meth
Procharger baby P1SC pullied to 7 psi
93 pump gas
750 rwhp 625 rwtq SAE - Dyno/tune done on a stock 19k miles clutch before the Mantic 9k went in

Meth helps a ton getting over 700 rwhp on a stock LS7

For my LS7 supercharger build I went with new ported heads for peace of mind on that dreaded Valve guide issues. 3lbs of boost netted me 625hp.

What are you guys all using for fuel pumps with your LS7 supercharger kit? Boost-a-pump or a higher flowing pump? If better pump which brand?

the kits come with a kenne bell boost a pump. the fuel tanks are a pain to drop so they use the bap to save on labour of removing the tank.

Just an FYI, the ECS kit comes with an ECS BAP. It is pre set to the proper voltage so no chance of a dial moving or over boosting the pump. It has been set to the voltage output that we have found to be the sweet spot with the Corvette fuel pumps.
