The 2 cars that run fast at runway rivalry with cam only ls3 motors run a 4.5" pulley with restrictor plates to a sub-4" opening (~3.375" ish). One restricts more than the other for mid 900s and the other made around 1020. 19-22psi
My move to a 4.5' was to match my setup as closely to theirs as possible.
Feldman runs a 4.125" and 4".
My car makes 25psi on the 4.5" pulley (unrestricted 4" pipe and race day filter) with the new cam
On the old cam I made 30psi on the 4.125" pulley (unrestricted 4" pipe and race day filter)
If I move back to the 4.125 I'll need to restrict it down to 25psi with my k&n filter, but it might make ~940hp based on prior results
The most likely swap will be to an f1r I have already with 4.5" pulley. That should get my low-end torque back, make similar top end power and be cheaper than the f1x (would sell x)
If you go to an R, you're gonna want to run a 4.25" pulley. It will be 5k past max impeller speed at 7200 and comes on hard. That's the pulley I've ran for 9k miles on mine. Throw a velocity stack on it and it gains 1-2 psi..(30-45hp).
That being said, it's still gonna run out of steam at 950 rwhp.. But you'll have WAY better power under the curve.
Or go to a YSI and make the same 1k rwhp on 5 psi less boost.. Ofcourse that's a bracket change too.
As so common is the case... People get the bug to build killer cars, then all the breakage/problems set in... Spend a fortune to keep fixing them and keep them going, only to eventually get to the point that enough is enough and you're "over it"..
I'm at the same point. The problem is these cars have $80-100k sunk in em and they won't bring $30k...
Thompson stepped up to the plate big time today on mine. Taking them my motor on Monday even though it was my fault for blowing it up. I'm done with the 4 digit stuff most likely, and race gas, meth, etc. Just E85, 800-850hp.
I'm sure Jeff isn't out of the game. Bet he buys something else.

My black C6 I sold a couple years ago had 18000 miles. I had 2 motors and 3 different blower setups on it. My C5 has 30000 miles or so and will be getting its 3rd motor, but same basic setup. We couldn't tune it because the clutch let go on the first pull around 900hp. I ran it for a while, just turned the meth up too much and washed a few rings out. We were in Mexico making pull after pull and it was my fault. First motor was a meth failure. Cars are just a second hobby now, I fish almost weekly, just because years of breaking, getting burnt by shops, etc has caused me to lose interest.

I was asking about the blue one.. I noticed in the eBay add he only had 18k miles.
Yeah I could care less about the cars.
I think I just keep buying and building them out of habit.

seems like you have done a lot with. Couldn't believe it's only at 18k miles.
There's wisdom to that sub-1k statement. Right now I'm making less power than I thought I might make when I embarked on the journey to upgrade from the f1a, but the car is running awesome now and I don't think I've driven it as hard in the past 1 year (other than tx2k15) as I have in the past few weeks. Everything from hard runs through the twisty back roads on the 19/20s to swapping to the drag pack and trying street dig racing that same evening..
The issue is everyone here in Kansas switched to 1/8 mile dig racing, roll racing is dead. To get the car working from a dig I need an expensive powerglide conversion. And to be competitive in Texas roll events I need 300whp more. Both adds up to another $30,000 into the car and I'm not ready to make that 'investment' when it's fine as is for someone who doesn't need that extreme.
As far as the blower swaps, I live 20 min from procharger and love gathering data and trying new things so that combination resulted in trying the new f1a-94 and then trying an X. Part of me is actually still curious to try the F1r but the car is so dialed in I don't want to touch anything.
I'm sure some will think I'm nuts but this was all spurred by finding a Ferrari F430 this weekend. If I can't make that deal work I may reevaluate the sale.

Sad to see your car up for sale Jeff, but there comes a point where it's time to move on.
every time i see a big build go up for sale i think about mine, but there is litereally nothing else i could get that i like. There is really just not a single current platform im interested in to start over with.

sorry to thread hijack here but I've never heard of methanol washing the rings out on anything, is this a side effect of having the methanol tuned up very high generally or just having the car too rich overall? would be great to hear anything else on this as have never come across any examples of methanol ruining a motor

Curiuos about that too
Did you have a wideband on it? What kind of AFR/lambda were you seeing with meth on?
This forum has two effects on me depending on the day. Sometimes I wish that I had built a 4 digit car but other times I am very glad I stopped at 850whp and can drive the car pretty much anywhere without breaking, overheating etc. Not going to win any 1/2 mile events with it but its pretty quick for a reliable street car.
